The Council met on monthly and we have been well served by our Clerk Catherine Moore. She has now accepted the position of Parish Clerk at Tasburgh and we are sorry to have lost her services. We would all like to express our thanks to Catherine for the hard work that she has done as Parish Clerk, particularly in the area of governance where her help and wise counsel has been particularly appreciated. We have now appointed Anne Panella as Parish Clerk. Anne has a great deal of experience as a Parish Clerk and we look forward to working with her in the years to come. Karen Bush continues as Caretaker and Booking Clerk to the Village Hall. The high number of bookings is evidence of her commitment to this vital Village facility; our thanks for all she has done during the year. We continue to offer a licensed bar for hirers of the Village Hall and our appreciation to Nicola Goodings, particularly as much of the profit is donated back to the Parish Council to assist in the upkeep of the building. Once again, Les Whithead has put in a great number of hours on a purely voluntary basis carrying out running repairs to the Hall and our thanks to him for maintaining this highly valued facility. The Council's finances continue to remain in a healthy condition and we recently ring fenced £10,000 for improvements to the Hall and the playing field. We have also just received a grant of £2,000 towards a new set of swings. Due to our healthy reserves we have been able to reduce the Precept, for the second year running, by £1,000 per annum. Lastly, I would like to thank my fellow councillors for all their hard work and support during the year. Alan Goodings who oversees all highways matters, Jack Hipperson as the Financial Officer and Andrew Goodings, Vice Chairman and the responsible officer for the Village Hall and car park and also for chairing meetings when I have been unable to attend. Richard Goodings has taken over as the Playing Field Officer and I would like to thank him for under taking the necessary training and for the diligent way in which he has discharged his responsibilities. My thanks also go to Lorraine Long and Simon Moore for their continued support and wise counsel. 2012 will be a historic year for our nation and on 4th June the Parish Council is organising a Diamond Jubilee celebratory event at the Village Hall including the lighting of a Beacon.
