FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JULY 2019 TRIGGER HIPPY RETURNS OCTOBER 11TH WITH FIRST ALBUM IN FIVE YEARS FULL CIRCLE & THEN SOME FEATURING NEW LINE UP Nashville, TN - Rejuvenated artist collective Trigger Hippy is back with their first album in five years, Full Circle & Then Some releasing October 11th via Turkey Grass Records/Thirty Tigers. Led by Black Crowes co-founder/drummer Steve Gorman and bassist/vocalist Nick Govrik, Trigger Hippy, version 2.0, now features Band Of Heathens vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Ed Jurdi and powerhouse vocalist/saxophonist Amber Woodhouse as they write the next chapter. Full Circle & Then Some is the long-awaited follow up to the group’s 2014 self-titled debut, which American Songwriter gave four-stars calling it, “…one of this year’s finest Southern soul-rock releases.” Following the album cycle and ensuing tour, former bandmembers Joan Osborne and Jackie Greene returned to their established solo careers. Govrik, the band’s main songwriter, continued to write and play while also becoming a successful restauranteur. The multi-talented Gorman continued to play music while hosting his Fox Sports Radio show “Steve Gorman Sports!” (which ran for eight years) and finishing his book Hard to Handle: The Life And Death Of The Black Crowes, out this fall. Govrik and Gorman always planned to keep Trigger Hippy going, but it wasn’t until they connected with Jurdi and newcomer Woodhouse, that everything clicked. Full Circle & Then Some finds the band building on a foundation steeped in music that grew out of the South. The unit infuses high energy doses of R&B, funk, blues, rock and gospel with a little Memphis soul and New Orleans boogie tossed into the mix. The result is both captivating and exhilarating. Trigger Hippy flex their muscle right out of the gate on Full Circle & Then Some with the rousing “Don’t Want To Bring You Down”, featuring a lead by all three vocalists and a highly spirited refrain. The group’s eclectic sound ranges from the country soul infused “Strung Out On The Pain” to the hypnotic dance rhythm of ‘”Born To Be Blue” to Lowell George / Dr. John / Allen Toussaint stylings on “Lost Lost Friend” and “One of Them”. Special guests on Full Circle And Then Some include harmonica virtuoso Mickey Raphael, and guitarist/mandolin player Guthrie Trapp. With all of these styles melded into one, some might find Trigger Hippy difficult to categorize. As the man said, “He’d have to be one charming motherfuckin pig”…er, sorry, “Personality goes a long way.” Compared to the Roo- and Coachella-sized behemoths, and a lot of the sexy new kids with names both playful and official-sounding—Rothbury might be a bit of both, and allegedly, it was quite the time—the Vibes is a creakier, more elegant dinosaur. A glorious, humble triceratops of a festival, yes, secure in its size, pleasant in its modest ambition and its abilities, not ostentatious, and kindly manageable. And damn isn’t it great to have it back in New England proper (it returned in 2007 after several years of renovation to Bridgeport’s Seaside Park and a few years at various upstate New York locales)? For this born/bred New Englander, it’s not only in a New England/Tri-State area happy medium, but it fills a still-felt void left by the big Phish festivals of yore and especially the can’t-believe-it’s-been-five-years-now departed Berkshire Mountain Music Festival (1997-2003). (For Berkfest alums from those heady days, monsoon conditions and all, have a scoop of nostalgia on the house) The Vibes doesn’t have the gaudy cache of some festivals, or some of the nationally dazzling headliners.

Real World Concert Photography Concert photography can be one of the most exciting and frustrating types of photography. Constantly moving lights, dark venues, fast moving subjects, limited shooting times, and limited access all make concert photography one of the more difficult subjects to master. The first hurdle to overcome is just being allowed to photograph the show. GETTING ACCESS There are just a handful of people who control the access to shoot concerts. You need to ask one (or more) of these folks for permission to photograph the show. The following people can usually grant you access to shoot a show: • The Promoter: The folks who are putting on the show. This also includes the companies like Live Nation or AEG. • The Publicist: Works for the band or label. • The Venue: They usually have a or need a house photographer. • The Band: You know, The Band! To find these folks takes some searching skill and it is time to make Google your friend. Some things to search for: • Search the band website for contact information. • Search publicity companies for contacts. • Look at the promoters for the shows you want to shoot. • Contact the band directly asking who their press contact is. • Look for the venue contacts. Once you have contact information it is time to offer something for something. What is in it for the person giving you the pass? What can you offer them? This is pretty easy to answer if you are working for a newspaper, magazine or wire service. You are offering good publicity. It is a little more difficult if you are a freelance photographer or just a fan.
