    Leominster Team Rector Team Profile, April 2021 Leominster Priory Choir The Wisdom of Winnie the Pooh: Pudleston’s 2019 Flower Festival 1 Leominster Team Profile Welcome from the Deanery Leadership Team The Diocese of Hereford is one of the most rural in the Church of England, and Leominster Deanery is no exception. We comprise five rural benefices plus the Leominster Team Ministry, stretching as the crow flies nearly 18 miles from the Welsh border across the northern reaches of Herefordshire into Worcestershire and over 20 miles from Leintwardine on the Shropshire border to Pipe-cum-Lyde on the northern outskirts of Hereford. Ours has been a forward-thinking Deanery, leading the way in collaborative ministry, new vocations and fulfilment of parish offer. But it is a time of transition; as well as the appoint- ment of a new rector to the Leominster Team, two new benefices joined us on 1 April 2021. These changes provide an opportunity to work together with the newly formed Deanery Leadership Team, creating a new Mission Action Plan and Deanery Pastoral Scheme, and re-examining the best models for joint ministry across the Leominster Team. The clergy chapter currently meets about ten times a year, as well as meetings which include the Deanery Lay Co-Chair, Deanery Leadership Team, Readers and other licenced lay ministers. Once or twice a year (when pre-Covid arrangements resume) there is a social event to which clergy with PTOs and their spouses/partners are also invited. The Diocese of Hereford operates on a ‘parish offer’ model, and the total offer budgeted by the deanery for 2021 is £363,111.

    A Vision of Passenger Transport in Herefordshire Executive Summary Our vision is that residents and visitors have access to a modern, attractive and affordable integrated public transport network extending throughout Herefordshire Such a network would facilitate a significant reduction in journeys currently made by private car. In a recent National Travel Survey 3 in 4 respondents said they would consider increased use of public transport for the sake of the environment. In order to optimise the reduction in CO2 emissions public transport must offer An attractive environment before, during and after the journey Reach, reliability and integration Clock-face timetables with good coverage every day Real time information on and off the bus Value for money fares and multi-operator tickets Journey planning that is both accessible and easily understandable Low carbon vehicles powered directly or indirectly by renewable electricity Demand management driven by reduced car parking in Hereford City The Government’s Bus Back Better scheme provides Herefordshire Council with a great opportunity to address all of these points in their Bus Services Improvement Plan. Rail and Bus for Herefordshire is making strenuous efforts to encourage them in this endeavour. All Herefordshire’s Town and Parish Councils can bring pressure to bear to make the BSIP the best it can be. Open Sessions To receive a brief verbal report from 4.1 Ward Councillor John Harrington 4.1. 1. Ragwort Highways England had replied they didn’t think Ragwort was a problem. They are not required to remove it. The Chairman asked the Clerk to contact DEFRA for their opinion 4.1.2 A.44 from Hamnish crossroads to Bredenbury. Proposal to introduce 50 mph speed limit 4.1.3 A417 Hope Under Dinmore with Bodenham junction. In discussions to replace this dangerous junction with a roundabout. 4.1.4 Core Strategy Review was under way (every 5 years) 4.1.5 Herefordshire Council were setting their budget (9.6) 4.1.5(i)HC were hoping to build more Council Houses in Herefordshire. (ii)Herefordshire Council didn’t think it could build all the homes as allocated. So were hoping to reduce the number of houses to be built. 4.1.6 The Eastern bridge onto Rotherwas would be going ahead.
