The neo-classical Playhouse Parker is one of Fort Lauderdale’s first venues. Built by Dr. Louis Parker, the playhouse opened its doors on February 6, 1967 and is managed by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour 2018 Tuesday, November 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $43–$83 with $193 VIP Tickets Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts In a career that spans more than three decades, legendary and Grammy®-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz returns to the road this holiday season for his 21st annual holiday tour. Special guests this year will be: pop/blues saxophonist/singer Mindi Abair, who will be making her first Christmas Tour appearance; South African guitarist/singer Jonathan Butler, who returns for another wonderful time; and Japanese keyboard sensation Keiko Matsui. Vienna Boys Choir Sunday, February 17 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $33–$53 Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts The Vienna Boys Choir, comprised of talented young voices ranging from ages 10-14, performs a program entitled Vienna Waits for You that features “Vienna” by Billy Joel, selections from the choir’s new Strauss CD and works by Mozart, Schubert, Haydn and Brahms as well as traditional Viennese songs. Renowned as one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world for over five centuries, the Vienna Boys Choir currently consists of 100 boys from dozens of nations who are divided into four touring groups that, in total, give 300 concerts and performances each year before almost half a million people.

Chris Botti Saturday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $57.50–$83 Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Grammy-winning trumpeter and composer Chris Botti is the complete package: a dazzling musician at home with everything from jazz to pop to rock, a brilliant bandleader who lets his players shine and a born showman whose joy at being onstage is infectious. Performing worldwide and selling more than four million albums, his form of creative expression begins in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre. His ongoing association with PBS has led to four No. 1 jazz albums and his release Impressions won the Grammy® for Best Pop Instrumental Album. Celebrating David Bowie Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $33–$58 Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts More than just a mere salute, Celebrating David Bowie keeps Bowie’s music alive with musicians who worked closely with him throughout his career and other top musicians greatly influenced by him. The rotating ensemble with world class multi-instrumentalists changing song to song perform a show highlighting elements that influenced Bowie and that in turn Bowie influenced: pop culture experimentation, art, fashion, science and futurism. Florida Grand Opera: Frida Thursday March 28 and Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25–$99 Presented by Florida Grand Opera Florida Grand Opera presents Frida featuring Robert Xavier Rodríguez’s colorful score that is a perfect match for the passionate art of the legendry Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Wracked by agonizing physical pain and caught up in a stormy marriage to Diego Rivera, the flame that fueled Kahlo’s art just kept burning and never turned to ash. She created 55 self-portraits, but none is quite as revealing as the one in Rodriguez’s opera. The performances are sung in English and Spanish with projected translations in English and Spanish.

The Music of Cream Friday, April 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $37.50–$57.50 Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Fifty years since Cream’s earth-shaking debut album, the bloodlines of the band come together to pay tribute to its legendary four-album reign over the psychedelic frontier of the late 1960s. Kofi Baker (son of Ginger) and Malcolm Bruce (son of Jack) unite with Will Johns (Eric Clapton’s nephew) to unleash the lightning that electrified a generation. Delivering the fire and the freedom of "Spoonful," "Strange Brew," "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room," "Crossroads" and "Badge," they share the stories and interplay with their mentors on the big screen as these master musicians whose lives have been steeped in the Cream spirit celebrate an extraordinary legacy. Friends! The Musical Parody Sunday, March 31 at 1 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $33–$63 Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Friends! The Musical Parody is a delightfully naughty confection that plucks the best moments from the TV show’s ten years and recreates them in an uncensored, fast-paced, music-filled romp that celebrates the wacky misadventures of a group of 20-something pals as they navigate the pitfalls of work, life and love in 1990s Manhattan. It’s a seemingly typical day at the coffee shop until an unexpected runaway bride with beautiful hair enters the picture and kicks the whole gang out of second gear. A traditional holiday favorite, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents the classic ballet The Nutcracker to Tchaikovsky’s popular score based on the tale of Ernest Hoffman. Russian National Ballet: Swan Lake Sunday, February 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $26.50–$56.50 Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Direct from Moscow, the 2018-19 Broward Center Dance Series begins with the Russian National Ballet Theatre performing its stunning rendition of Swan Lake. Among the world’s greatest love stories and the most revered in the classical ballet repertoire, Swan Lake offers an unforgettable evening of dance through the retelling of the fairytale story about a beautiful princess, a passionate prince and the evil spell that threatens their happiness together. Described by The Washington Post as “a cut above many of its rivals,” the troupe upholds the grand national tradition of the major Russian ballet works and developing new talents throughout Russia and will be celebrating 20 years of bringing timeless ballet classics to the stages of North America.

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo Sunday April 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $37.50–$57.50 Presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts The 2018-19 Broward Center Dance Series presents a rousing finale with Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. Toeing the line between high art and high camp, the Trocks, as they are known, is an international phenomenon of 16 all-male dancers who continue to perform parodies of famed ballet classics such as Swan Lake and Le Corsaire. Celebrating their 40th anniversary, these masterful dancers boast a wicked comedic sense of humor with respect for true classical dance. Delicately stuffed into tutus and man-sized toe-shoes, their humor is only outmatched by the dancers’ panache and technical prowess. The Seattle Times reported “The genius touch of the Trocks is that while the ballet’s stories and customs are, lovingly, played for laughs, the technique isn’t.”
