Weekly ​ ​ highlights feature streams of beloved Festival performances from the past ten years, a series of new PillowTalks with leaders in the dance field, an online version of the beloved intergenerational movement class Families Dance together, and a new Master Class Series from The School at Jacob’s Pillow. Attendees are encouraged to make a contribution in lieu of purchasing a ticket and fifty percent of donations for performances will be shared with the artists featured. Community Engagement events will share proceeds with local community organizations. “After we canceled our on-site Festival due to the global pandemic, we soon realized the need to fulfill our mission by engaging artists and audiences in a quintessential summer experience from Jacob’s Pillow virtually,” says Jacob’s Pillow Executive & Artistic Director Pamela Tatge. “The civic organizing and protests confronting racism and inequality in our country greatly impacts our organization’s decision-making.     Tamara Rojo Artistic Director of the English National Ballet Tamara began dancing in Madrid at the Víctor Ullate School, where she took part in an extensive repertoire of classical roles. She won a Gold Medal at the Paris International Dance Competition and the Special Jury Prize unanimously. Galina Samsova asked her to join the Scottish Ballet and she later received a personal invitation from Derek Deane to join the English National Ballet, where she became director after six months. She danced the whole range of leading roles with the company, including Juliet (Romeo and Juliet) and Clara (The Nutcracker), which Derek Deane created expressly for her. Tamara joined The Royal Ballet as Principal Dancer at the invitation of Sir Anthony Dowell. She is also a regular guest of the Mariinsky Ballet, La Scala Ballet, Tokyo Ballet, New National Theatre, Tokyo, the Cuban National Ballet, the National Ballet of China, the Lithuanian National Ballet, the Mikhailovsky Ballet, the Royal Swedish Ballet and the Finnish National Ballet. She has also performed at the prestigious World Ballet Festival in Tokyo and at galas all over the world. In 2010 she was recognised for her artistic excellence with the Laurence Olivier Award for the Best New Dance Production with Goldberg: the Brandstrup - Rojo Project. She has been awarded the Prince of Asturias Prize, the Gold Medal for Fine Arts and the Encomienda de Numero de Isabel la Catolica. Other recognitions include the Prix Benois de la Danse, The Times Dancer Revelation of the Year, the National Dance Critics Award, the Barclay’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance, the Positano Dance Award, Léonide Massine Premi al Valore, the Italian Critics Award, the International Arts Medal and the Madrid Performance Award.

The aim of the article is to provide the reader some materials on developing of ballet in Russia, its influence on the development of ballet schools in the world and its leading role in the world ballet art. The authors characterize the main periods of history of Russian ballet and its famous representatives. Key words: Russian ballet, choreographers, dancers, classical ballet, ballet techniques. 1. Introduction. Russian ballet is a form of ballet characteristic of or originating from Russia. In the early 19th century, the theatres were opened up to anyone who could afford a ticket. There was a seating section called a rayok, or «paradise gallery», which consisted of simple wooden benches. This allowed non- wealthy people access to the ballet, because tickets in this section were inexpensive. It is considered one of the most rigorous dance schools and it came to Russia from France. The specific cultural traits of this country allowed to this technique to evolve very fast reach his most perfect state of beauty and performing [4; 22]. II.     2017 THE NORDIC COUNTRIES MADE IN 2017 NO BORDERS We in the arts can take centre stage and show that the ability to collaborate is one of the finest things in humanity, and is crucial for our survival. The Nordic countries have a long-standing tradition of working together, and the MADE IN project, its catalogue and website, is a small yet great example of that. Artists, leaders and promoters in the performing arts from five countries have come together to jointly present their information on what they are all doing right now and in the near future. This is the fifth edition, and for the first time, we’ve decided not to list the catalogue by country, as we chose to fully commit to our manifesto for no borders between Nordic performing arts organisations. You are all welcome to start your communication with any of us, as in front of you is a network of fearless artists not unlike their Viking ancestors.     Topi Lehtipuu Tenor, Curator The greatest hero of the performance was Topi Lehtipuu, whose holistic expression was captivating. Rondo Magazine, Third Practice, Tero Saarinen Company, 2019 Topi Lehtipuu enjoys a reputation as one of Finland’s most highly individual artists. Extremely versatile and a highly-skilled stage performer, he is renowned for repertoire ranging from early music, through Bach, Mozart and classical composers, to contemporary creations. His collaborations include conductors such as Ivor Bolton, René Jacobs, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Riccardo Muti, Sir Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Daniel Harding, and directors including Alex Ollé, Claus Guth, Yannis Kokkos, Barrie Kosky, Laurent Pelly and Peter Sellars. Topi also enjoys a career as artistic consultant and curator. He was Director of the Helsinki Festival from 2015 to 2018, a wide-ranging and innovative multi-arts festival and a major event in Finland’s cultural year. He was also artistic director of Turku Music Festival from 2010 to 2015, and Joroinen Music Days, a chamber music festival in eastern Finland. Recent highlights include the creation of the role of The Creature in Frankenstein by Mark Gray, commissioned by La Monnaie/De Munt, as well as participation in a new multi-disciplinary dance and vocal project featuring music by Monteverdi - Third Practice - with renowned dance group Tero Saarinen Company. Other recent projects included the role of The Witch in Hänsel & Gretel with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Sir Andrew Davies, as well as a return to MozartWoche, Salzburg. In Europe he appears regularly in Berlin, Brussels, Savonlinna, London, Paris, Salzburg and Vienna.
