At the end of this APSN journey, the students will have to transit to open employment, or those who are not quite ready, for further vocational training at our Centre for Adults.     ANNUAL REPORT 2016/2017 Empowering Lives, Enabling Communities towards an Inclusive Society Artists’ Profiles Tributes Dr Francis C. Chen 1939-2016 r Francis C. Chen, APSN‘s Emeritus President 2 Dand Pioneer Founding Member passed away on 6 October 2016. Since the establishment of the 1 Association, Dr Chen spearheaded fundraising activities and planned the curriculums and frameworks for the association from scratch. His 40 years of dedication helped build APSN from its humble beginnings to where it stands today. Dr Chen is fondly remembered for his passion, resilience and his belief in creating a haven where people with mild intellectual disabilities is valued and equipped with skills and knowledge to become an independent individual. 4 3 Mr M.K. Wong 1929-2016 r M.K. Wong, one of APSN’s Founding MMembers, passed away on 27 November 2016. Mr Wong was honoured for his long service and dedication to APSN at the APSN 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner. He was awarded the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat in 1987 for his 5 contribution to Special Education in Singapore. Today, Sentosa offers its guests more excitement and fun-filled activities than ever before. We continue to dedicate ourselves to providing a platform for everyone to play and bond with friends and loved ones, and so we were delighted to see more than 20 million visitors grace us with their presence on Sentosa in the course of a year. To mark the island’s 40th year, we threw a slew of parties and activities to encourage Singaporeans and our foreign visitors to play on the island, while reliving their Sentosa experiences of yesteryear. For starters, we created a nostalgic exhibition that included a mural of photos contributed by our guests, sharing family pictures in our old monorail train and at the ferry terminal, the Musical Fountain and Fantasy Island. On 1 September 2012, we celebrated the island’s 40th birthday by throwing open our doors with free island admission for guests.
