Keane 2019-03-26 10:00 CET NorthSide releases the final poster Keane, Pond, and Hop Along are among the last eight acts for this year's fantastic NorthSide poster Since October last year, NorthSide has been able to present a string of world- class acts such as Bon Iver, New Order, Tame Impala, The Streets, Major Lazer, Foals, Khalid, Migos, Nas, First Aid Kit, Mark Ronson, and many others, and now the festival adds another eight exciting acts for this year's poster. Among the international additions are the Platinum-selling band Keane, who after a six-year break is finally ready to tour again. The band's latest Danish show was at NorthSide in 2013, and now Keane is promising both new music and a comeback to the big stages. The band with Tom Chaplin in front broke through in 2004 with the album "Hopes and Fears", which contained inevitable hits such as "Somewhere Only We Know", "Everybody's Changing", and "Bedshaped", and today the band's debut is one of the best-selling British records of the past twenty years. The string of hits continued with "Is It Any Wonder?", "Crystal Ball", "Stop for a Minute”, "Silenced by the Night", and "Sovereign Light Café" before taking a well-deserved break in 2013. Keane has sold more than 10 million records worldwide, and all of their four albums went to number one in their native England. They are an excellent live band with lots of songs that everyone can sing along to, and this summer they finally get their comeback at NorthSide. The English hitmakers are joined by three of the most popular new Danish acts right now. Both Phlake and Saveus have previously with great success killed it in Ådalen, and the duo Benal has signed up for their first concert at NorthSide. All three acts are permanent fixtures on the Danish charts and radio waves, and each contribute something truly unique to the Danish music scene. Consisting of both current and former members of Tame Impala, Australian act Pond is an exciting addition to the line-up on the same day as Kevin Parker will visit the festival. The Tame Impala front man is both a former member of the band and producer of their latest five psychedelic gems. The latest album, "Tasmania", was praised by both Uncut and Pitchfork, and Pond's visit to NorthSide will be the 11-year-old band's first Danish festival show. The same goes for Philadelphia’s own Hop Along, who through their career have achieved great critical success in their home country. However, with "Bark Your Head Off, Dog" the success has spread, and the band has, among other things, been added to the line-up for this year's Coachella festival. In Denmark, Soundvenue has also noticed the band, and they dished out five stars for what can now be called the band's breakthrough album. The magazine especially emphasizes Frances Quinlan, whose distinctive vocals and songwriting style makes the band stand out from other indie bands. Soundvenue also highlighted the song "How Simple" as one of the best from 2018, which along with the fiercely captivating "Somewhere a Judge" are excellent entry points to this truly fascinating band. Welsh act Novo Amor released one of last year's most beautiful records. The songs on "Birthplace" are often described as "warm" and "Scandinavian", and parallels are often drawn to Bon Iver. In other words, it is heartfelt and beautiful modern folk music that exudes nature and vast terrains. Novo Amor has only previously played a single Danish concert, so this summer the talented songwriter gets his Danish festival debut at NorthSide. Masego had his festival debut last year, when he played his first Danish show at Tinderbox 2018. Here he charmed, sang, and danced worthy of a five-star review in GAFFA, and now the deeply original musician will bring his self- proclaimed TrapHouseJazz style to Aarhus. There are now 39 acts on the poster, and although this should be considered the final program for NorthSide 2019, there is still the possibility that a few more names will be added, when we get a little closer to the festival. Intimate Live Girls Benjamin Halligan Keywords: aura, intimacy, kissing, authenticity, liveness, social media, spectacle, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Terry Richardson, Peter Gabriel Abstract: The arena concert requires a particular type of liveness of performance in order to transcend impersonal mass entertainment. Liveness here looks to authenticity and happenstance, privileges personal communications and seeks to live in the moment, and in this way the live performance then meets and matches or even surpasses the virtual life of the artist or group. The concert must be both mass spectacle and an individual and singular experience for those witnessing and participating in it. Without these latter essential attributes, which can be read as the auratic and authentic replacing the virtual, the arena concert falls short of ontological expectations of live music. In recent years the mise-en-scène of the arena concert has become calibrated to female artists with, seemingly, a concomitant feminisation of the event. In this, the space is often given over to intimacy, empathy, and presented as an insight into the life, and even philosophy, of the performer.

FEBRUAR 2020 STORE VEGA KEANE ANNONCERER 2020 EUROPA-TOUR I FORBINDELSE MED DET NYE ALBUM ‘CAUSE AND EFFECT’ - UDE NU Efter udgivelsen af deres seneste studiealbum ‘Cause and Effect’, annoncerer Keane en Europa-tour i begyndelsen af 2020. Touren starter 20. januar i Ancienne Belgique i Bruxelles og Keane vil efterfølgende turnere kontinentet rundt med 16 shows i januar og februar 2020. Bandet har brugt sommeren på at blæse festivalpublikummer omkuld i Storbritannien og Europa og udsolgte efterfølgende en række intimkoncerter i USA, Frankrig og Tyskland, inkl. shows i La Maroquinerie i Paris og Lido i Berlin. ’CAUSE AND EFFECT’ er Keanes efterfølger til ’Strangeland’ fra 2012, hvorpå man kunne finde singlerne ’Disconnected’ og ’Silenced by the Night’. Det nye albums tilblivelse kom som en overraskelse for bandet selv: Da de holdte en pause udgav sanger Tom Chaplin to succesfulde soloalbums, men han savnede sin gamle sparringspartner Tim Rice-Oxley. “I found myself wondering how I had come to let this very enigmatic and important relationship in my life drift,” udtalte Tom. I mellemtiden opdagede Tim, der havde kæmpet sine egne kampe, at han havde skrevet sange nok til et helt album; Nogle meget personlige sange, drevet af humor såvel som smerte. Da Tom, bassisten Jesse Quin og trommeslager Richard Hughes hørte sangene blev de omgående draget til dem, både lydmæssigt såvel som lyrisk.
