FATHER MATT’S CORNER - Sixth Sunday of Easter Dear Friends in Christ, In the gospel this Sunday there is a lot of talk about love. Love is not something suggested by God but it is commanded by God. Jesus showed that prime example as he loved the disciples so he instructed them to love one another. We can go through the day and see examples of how people do not love one another but we are called to love one another to be patient with each other. For the gospel also tells us that God is love, and it is that love between the father and the son and the Holy Spirit that we will celebrate in the feast of the Most Holy Trinity. Last week I spoke to the congregation about our eventually opening up but for right now we will still keep most precautions in place. As we receive more data we will relax certain procedures as other churches are doing the same. However we are going to be a little more pre-cautious because I think it is better to come out of this pandemic a little bit slower than moving too fast and then have to take back certain measures that we opened up. We will be having limited social events I sincerely think we will be so sooner rather than later but we still must be cautious and must be patient. As many of you know Fr. Kachy’s sister Gemma passed away in late March. Fr. Kachy left on March 27 to be with his family in Tanzania. Fr. Kachy’s desire is to return as soon as possible. He has to wait for government permission to let him in the country. This process may take a little while longer. Again your prayers and patience are appreciated Father will come back just as soon as he is able to get a visa and re-enter the United States. Until then we have Fr. Martin, Fr. Bernard and Fr. Ruse helping us out we should be ok for the short time. As we eagerly await for Fr. Kachy to come back to Our Lady of Hope. Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Matt

THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD The Ascension of the Lord which is a Holy Day of Obligation will be transferred to Sunday, May 16. 4 Funeral Notification and Planning

The death of a loved one is always painful, yet requires timely decisions for scheduling funeral rites. Contacting the funeral home/cremation provider of your choice is the first response following the death of a loved one. The funeral home or family member (for those who choose to use a direct cremation service/ society) should then contact, Dan Weimer, the Funeral Coordinator at Our Lady of Hope at (386) 299-4490. Dan will assist with scheduling a Mass or Service, and arrange an appointment with the family to plan the Funeral Mass/Service. Funeral Masses may be scheduled with the decedent in a casket or with cremated remains once the remains are available. Funeral Masses are scheduled and celebrated at Our Lady of Hope at the 8:30 a.m. Mass Monday through Friday. Memorial Masses are not permitted in the Diocese of Orlando (this means the absence of a body or cremains). A date for a Funeral Mass/Service cannot be scheduled without the funeral home or family member contacting Dan. This policy is in place to avoid scheduling conflicts and assure the availability of the church and a priest. There are brochures available in the parish office which speak about the Church’s teachings on Catholic Funerals and Cremation. Bereavement Ministry (Comfort and Care) SEASONS OF HOPE - A six week program, rooted in Catholic tradition, conveys God’s consolation through scripture, prayer, reflection and sharing our faith. Each year many families face the loss of loved ones. Seasons of Hope offers the bereaved an opportunity to come together to share with others and can give a voice to your unique journey of grief, finding healing and hope. Mark your calendars for May 22nd at 9:00am, we will be taking reservations for the upcoming session. Location to be determined. Social distancing and masks to be required. During this season, we will focus on things that we can do at home to grow spiritually and the many special feasts that occur during this Season. During this season, I hope you can enter into the joy of the Resurrection, Ascension and Pentecost.

EASTER WEEK 6: MOTHER’S DAY—WEEK Today we celebrate Mother’s Day. In honor of Mother’s Day, take some time this week to honor your mother and our spiritual mother, Mary. First write a thank you note to your mother and thank her for all that she has done for you. Then, take some time this week to research one of the times that Mary has appeared to someone on earth: Lourdes, Guadalupe, Medjugorje, Fatima, Pontmain, etc. There are several times that Mary has appeared to us and for several reasons. Which one is meaningful to you? Why is it meaningful to you? How do you think you would respond if Mary appeared to you? Want to go deeper Continue to say a rosary a day for the end of the pandemic.
