I hope you all had a super holiday, I’ve enjoyed hearing from the children all the things they’ve been up to. We must say a big welcome to our new children Lewen, George, Harrison, Lily and Bethany who have joined us this week. I would also like to say a big welcome to our new class two teacher, Mr Darren Hooper, who joined us this week. Please introduce yourselves to him when you drop your children off! He will be teaching the children on Mondays and Tuesdays. Thank you for all your continued support. God bless and have a lovely weekend. Best wishes from Katie Gray and the staff at Broadhembury School Home Learning During the recent staff training days we looked together at our policy relating to Home Learning. Across The Jubilee Federation, staff recognise that pupils who have spent a busy structured day at school need time to relax and unwind at the end of the afternoon. We are also mindful of the need to encourage children to pursue out-of-school activities e.g. swimming, ballet, music lessons, Cubs, Brownies etc. We believe that home learning should be used to effectively reinforce and/or extend what is learned in school. Home learning is planned to be meaningful. We hope that children will feel a sense of personal satisfaction in a task completed well and that their efforts will be recognised and praised both at home and at school.

Farway Church of England Primary School Church Green, Farway, Devon, EX24 6EQ Executive Headteacher:- Mrs Katie Gray (01404) 871239 [email protected] www.farwayprimary.co.uk 12 th February 2016 Dear Parents It is with regret that I have to inform you that, due to family illness, Mr Hooper has decided to leave the federation in order to spend time with his wife and children. He would like to send his sincere best wishes to all his colleagues, parents and to the pupils he has taught in the federation. As a result of this and the continued reduction in pupil numbers at the school, replacing Mr Hooper is not a financially viable option. As you will know Mr Hooper and Miss White also have contracts at Broadhembury. It has been decided to move Miss White to Broadhembury to replace Mr Hooper, therefore giving children there continuity of teaching through the week. Due to the budget constraints here Mr Hooper will not be replaced and Miss N will be taking the whole of Farway School in one class after half term. Miss N will be supported in her organisation and planning for this role by Miss Prince, Head of Teaching and Learning. There will also be a teaching assistant. Many of you know that Miss N is getting married in the summer and she has made it known to me for some time that it was her intention to move back to Cornwall at some point. An opportunity has risen at a school in Cornwall and she was successful at interview this week.
