Who wants pie? It seems that many residents of Carbon County do, and because of that, RMHC received over $11,000. Kickin' Country 98.3 FM held their 6th annual Pie Auction on June 20, 2007, and the frenzied bidding began early and went throughout the day. Pies were rounded up from all over the area - from local businesses, politicians, community members and dignitaries of Carbon and Em ery counties. Radio listeners were also able to bid on pies from Mary Nichols from KUTV2News, Kevin O'Connor the Vice President of Operations for the Utah Jazz and even a yummy, creamy pie from Ronald McDonald himself.

Keith Mason, a disc jockey with Kickin' Country, started this auction years ago when he and his family stayed at the Salt Lake Ronald McDonald House. This was his way to give back to the House and to get his community involved with the "home away from home." The simple act of buying a pie has had a big impact on our families. Thank you to Keith, Kickin' Country, and all those who donated and bought a pie! ~ ~ ~

In 1999 a little boy named Collin Curry was diagnosed with a severe case of scoliosis, a curvature of the spine. His treatment would require numerous surgeries. For the surgeries his family would have to travel over 1,200 miles from their home in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Shortly after his diagnosis, Collin decided he wanted to do something to help other people. While staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City, Collin learned about the Pop Tabs for Kids Program. Rooms were made over by Daimler Chrysler, the Blue Family, MAXX Properties, Stagedhomes.com, Michael Larsen, Crystal Trombley and the Target Corporation. Many of the rooms needed a freshening up and had not been redecorated for many years. Room Makeovers usually included a fresh coat of paint, new window treatments and bed coverings, bathroom accessories, pictures and decorations. Some groups also chose to refinish or replace furniture. Future Makeover projects are already under way for 2008.
