From Elaine Bell, "In October 1878 John, his wife Margaret (nee McPherson), along with their five adult children (Margaret, Janet, Mary, Ronald and John) emigrated to North Dakota. Travelling with them was Thomas Wildridge Bell, a son of Angus - this provides a link, presumably a family link, between John and Angus.". She married Andrew YUILL [15131]. Provided by Elaine Bell, "Around 1864, Mary and her husband Andrew Yuill and family emigrated to the US, settling in Indiana. In September the previous year CCA and his wife (Janet, daughter of Andrew Yuill and stepdaughter/sister-in-law of Mary) and their two children emigrated to New Zealand via Glasgow, arriving at Dunedin on the ship "Aboukir" in January 1864. Angus BELL10,11,12 [24], son of Ronald BELL [15122] and Margaret MACLERGAN [15123], was born circa 1818 in Islay.11,13,14 He was in Presbyterian.13 He was in Farmer. He married Jane MCDOWELL [25] circa 1841. He died of Kidney and heart disease on 18 September 1897 in Singhampton, Nottawasaga Township, Ontario.13,15 He was buried on 20 September 1897 in Union Cemetery, Singhampton, Ontario, Canada.13 He experienced Death Certificate # on 10 December 1897 in 023449-97, County of Simco, Division of Nottawasaga. Angus was born circa 1818 in Islay, most probably in the area of Conisby, Kilchoman which was the known residence of his Father Ronald and youngest Brother CCAB in 1823.” Angus Bell is shown as being a "conveyancer, issuer of marriage licenses and Township Clerk of Nottawasaga, Twp., coroner." He was the Township Clerk from 1850 until his death in 1897. From the Creeemore Star (newspaper), Village of Singhampton in 1889, written by J.B. Spurr, Editor: "In 1846 he (Angus) settled on the lot which has seen the rise and progress of the village of Singhampton." From an Ancestry.com tree: Last Will and Testament. The subject will was probated on January 25, 1898. All the rest of my children, namely: Ronald, Margaret, Sarah Jane, Catherine, Mary Ann, Thomas Wildridge, and Janet have had all their portion during my lifetime I therefore leave them nothing. From the Enterprise-Messenger (Collingwood, Ontario newspaper). Sept 23, 1897 - "Deceased had a large family. His wife died some years ago. The best known of the survivors are his sons, Angus of Singhampton, and Thomas of Dakota. Of the daughters, Mrs Greenaway (Agnes) and Mrs. Riddell (Catherine formerly Taylor nee Bell) live at Singhampton, and another daughter Lizzie (Elizabeth Bell) lives on the homestead. One daughter (Mary Ann Stevenson) lives in Toronto, and another (Margaret Crawford formerly Lang nee Bell) in Collingwood Township (most likely) Osprey Township)" Obituary of Donald Bell in " The Orillia Packet" 18 March 1881, says "He leaves one brother in Canada, Mr. A. Both Enumeration Districts include parts of the village of Singhampton.". Jane MCDOWELL14 [25] was born in 1823 in Ireland.13,16 She was in Presbyterian. She died on 25 August 1878 in Singhampton.13 She was buried in Union Cemetery. She experienced Death Certificate # on 31 August 1878 in 013243-78, County of Simco, Division of Nottawasaga.13 Jane was born in Ireland and was probably living in the Township of Innisfil or West Gwillimbury where she met Angus. They were married in approximately 1841. The inscription on the Bell family monument in Union Cemetery incorrectly lists Jane's death as 1897. The actual year of her death was 1878. Unfortunately, some of the statistical information recorded by the members and their posterity was inaccurate, conflicting, or incomplete. Where possible, research was done to alleviate this problem The compiled information was gathered and used as a secondary source for submitting pioneer names for temple work to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Genealogical Department. As a result of this study over 200 ordinances were identified and performed for members of the Ellsworth and McArthur Handcart Companies in the Provo Temple.
