Beverley Craven Jimmy Jones www.chequermead.org.uk Samuel Butler once said “Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.” Well our current season gets very fruity, with lots to get your teeth into! Especially fruity is EGOS’ return of Full Monty in September. Murder and intrigue are the order of the day with Trevor Marriott’s World’s Worst Serial Killers, and horror takes over at the end of October, with NT Live’s screening of the powerful Frankenstein starring Benedict Cumberbatch, and the cult classic Evil Dead on Halloween. As well as fruits, there are stars a plenty, with Ben Montague, Beverley Craven, Jimmy Jones, Paul Daniels, Jethro, , China Crisis, The Fureys and Michael Portillo all gracing the Chequer Mead stage. There really is something for everyone in this programme and we finish off our year with the ever popular Company of Friends Panto, which this year is Aladdin. Don’t forget you can book your tickets online through our website. May I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and wish you Seasons Greetings for December and a prosperous New Year.

CHEQUER MEAD Friends As a patron of Chequer Mead Community Art Centre we are sure that you would be more than happy to support its continuing success.

As a Friend of Chequer Mead you will greatly benefit the Art Centre. Your annual membership fee is used by the small Friends committee to provide items to enhance the centre for all its users and hirers.

In recent years we have been able to provide full height mirrors for the meeting and rehearsal rooms, child booster seats, 80 new chairs, stage condenser microphones, clip frames in The Pavilion, the planters by the front entrance, portable modesty screens. We continue to raise funds and meet the centre manager regularly to find out what is needed.

In return, we offer Friends concessions on some shows, we hold quarterly ticket draws so you could win a pair of free tickets to a show. We hold events just for Friends and Volunteers for example, we recently held a wine tasting evening, quiz night and a talk and we email regular newsletters to keep you informed of upcoming events and shows.

If you are interested in helping further, then why not join the Committee? We raise funds in addition to the membership fees by holding regular raffles, table top sales and run a 1001 Club. If you enjoy fund raising and have some good ideas we would love you to join us.

Get ready to moonwalk the night away at a Michael Jackson tribute show whose star performer ‘Navi’ once earned a standing ovation from the King of Pop himself. However, this is certainly no ordinary tribute show. The cast is led by impersonator 'Navi' who is, without question, the leading and most successful Michael Jackson tribute artist on the planet. A claim that is backed up by Navi's incredible list of achievements that have been chalked up in a glittering career spanning over two decades in 57 different countries. Michael Jackson will always be remembered for being the greatest entertainer of all time. Whether it is the classic hits, slick dance moves, glitzy outfits or the magnificent production, it was Michael Jackson who broke the mould and set a standard that can never be reached. Covering hits over a period of more than 5 decades, no other production even comes close, with the image and experience of Navi, the expertise of the band that has played with some of the biggest names in the UK music scene, the calibre of the dancers and the performance of such hits as ‘Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Billie Jean, Bad, Black or White, Thriller, Man in the Mirror’ etc and Jackson Five classics such as ‘I want you back, ABC, Can you feel it and Shake your body’. www.kingofpop.co.uk £17.50 Students and Children £12.00 Family of 3 £45.00 Family of 4 £55.00

The Fureys are responsible for some of the most stirring music ever to capture the public imagination. Their folk based music has received standing ovations in some of the biggest concert halls of the world and they credit their musical ability to their parents, Ted and Nora, who were well known musicians themselves. They encouraged their sons to play music from a very early age and there was live traditional music in their house almost nightly. Their emotive songs stir many emotions….tears and laughter, sadness and joy.
