Tonight, we celebrate you at your very best. As we honor the gold standard in regional sports coverage, we do so in the safest way possible again. I know many of us are looking forward to the day when we can all gather in person, but for tonight, we present a virtual awards show to continue our tradition of celebrating Texas sports coverage from the past year. It goes without saying, this has been an unprecedent time for the sports world, but things are slowly returning to normal. Games are being played. Stadiums and arenas have fans. Although things continue to change, your commitment to the field of Sports has never wavered. So, tonight’s show is for all the producers, engineers, writers and directors, the talent in front of the camera and the talent behind the camera, and more importantly, it’s about honoring the incredible storytelling you’ve done this past year. You set the bar high for everyone, and we are proud of the compelling work that continues to come out of the great Lone Star State of Texas. I want to thank the many individuals “behind the camera” who make tonight possible. First, are the Lone Star Board of Governors, those who continued to donate their time to keep the Chapter operating throughout a pandemic. I want to thank the Chapter’s Executive Committee, our Executive Director Terry Markis, Director of Awards & Communications Shelly Rumley, and all our committee members whose patient, tireless efforts have kept the Chapter functioning every day in face of unexpected challenges. I also want to thank the special guest presenters who took their personal time to record for us, our producer Linnea Lewis, and the entire production team who have carefully worked to produce this show to the standards and guidelines set by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Finally, and as I’ve said before, although we have to be apart, let’s take tonight and celebrate together. On behalf of the Lone Star Board of Governors, our staff and fellow Chapter members, we congratulate all of tonight’s nominees and recipients alike. Good luck. Enjoy the show. And my sincerest hope is to see you all next year. Roger Vertrees President, Lone Star Chapter, NATAS 4 2021 LONE STAR REGIONAL SPORTS EMMY® AWARDS #LONESTAREMMY FROM THE AWARDS CHAIR Welcome to the Lone Star Regional Sports EMMY® Awards! We are so thankful for the continued support and participation of all our Sports broadcasting community. The Covid outbreak has taken the way we present our EMMY awards in a new direction over the last year and a half. We had hoped to be celebrating with you all in person this year, but with cases on the rise again, we’re glad to have made the decision to go virtual once again. We are optimistic about returning to an in person show next year but safety of our members will always come first. I’d like to thank our crew of Terry Markis, Shelly Rumley, Linnea Lewis, Roger Vertrees and our Board members who helped make this virtual show amazing once again. We congratulate all the nominees for your continued efforts to excel and produce some amazing, compelling work!
