The Miners and All times Central Redhawks have a long history as they played together in the then Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic *Great Lakes Valley Conference game (1) at Ashland, Ohio Association from 1935-91. The schools have had 135 regular season meetings and Saturday’s (2) at San Antonio, Texas game is the fourth pre-season exhibition game between the two. • The Miners were 9-17 in the 2014-15 season, but lost 15 of their final 16 games after an 8-2 start. Game Coverage S&T’s struggles began at the time of Juwan Miller’s season-ending injury, as he missed the last 15 Audio: KTTR Radio (99.7 FM, Rolla) Web: www.minerathletics.com (audio link) games of the year. Missouri S&T was picked to finish seventh in the West Division of the Great Video: www.minerathletics.com (video link) Lakes Valley Conference. Live Stats: www.minerathletics.com (Live stats link) • Southeast Missouri State, who was picked fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference’s West Division, posted a 12-17 record last season. The Redhawks, under the direction of former Mississippi State head coach Rick Ray, return two starters in pre-season All-OVC selection Antonius Cleveland and Isiah Jones; Cleveland is the top returning scorer for Southeast this season as he averaged 10.8 points a game a year ago. • Zach Ellis, the only four-year senior on the Miner roster this year, enters the 2015-16 season just 281 points away from 1,000 for his career. The 1,000-point mark has been reached previously by 23 Miners, the most recent being Bryce Foster late in the 2012-13 season. Ellis is also 25 steals away from reaching 10th place on S&T’s all-time list. Meanwhile, Danylo Zuikov comes into the year needing just eight three-point baskets to reach 100 for his career and can reach the top 10 on the S&T career list with 39 treys this season. • Missouri S&T will open its 2015-16 regular season schedule on Nov. 13 in Ashland, Ohio against Ashland University, the pre-season favorite in the South Division of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. S&T will play Lake Erie the following day in Ashland before hosting Missouri Baptist in its home opener Nov. 17. 2015-16 MISSOURI S&T MEN’S BASKETBALL 2 2015-16 MISSOURI S&T MEN’S BASKETBALL ROSTER NO. Our goal is to translate the love of basketball into an appreciation, understanding, and passion of the science and mathematics underlying the sport. Through this approach, we aim to empower students who may be underperforming academically by relating core curriculum topics to their athletic strengths, capabilities, and interests. By demonstrating the natural connection between basketball, science, and mathematics, the students are encouraged to define and pursue better life choices, including the continuation of their education and even attending college. Participation in the Mavericks Science of Basketball program has the potential to improve academic achievement, provide a path to college, elevate socioeconomic status, and make Dallas an even better place to live. Objectives The Dallas Mavericks Science of Basketball program can be implemented either as: (1) an after school program delivered by volunteers (e.g., coaches, scientists, engineers) in partnership with teachers and parents, or (2) a supplement to classroom activities in elementary schools or middle schools.
