' V '' • INTRODUCTION " Calcinus hazletti Haig & McLaughlin, 1984, originally described from Hawaii, remained unknown from elsewhere uritil recently collected from shallow waters around the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands, Japan (Asakura & Tachikawa, 2003]. This collection represented a major range extension of the species to the northwest. Haig & McLaughlin's (1984) account of the species from Hawaii described the colouration (based on a colour illustration provided by J. Forest and M. de Saint Laurent), as "shield pink or pale orange, tip of rostrum and anterolateral corners dark orange-red". Hoover's (1998) recent photograph of the species from Hawaii shows part of the dorsal surface of the shield. The colour of the photographed specimen agrees well with that described by Haig & McLaughlin (1984) and the more recent description given by Asakura -

Épicarides Et Rhizocéphales De Roscoff
ÉPICARIDES ET RHIZOCÉPHALES DE ROSCOFF. par Roland Bourdon. Station Biologique de Roscoff. Bien que les Epicarides et les Rhizocéphales de Roscoff aient fait l'objet de diverses recherches, notamment de la part de Ch. Pérez (1), aucun inventaire des espèces n’en avait encore été dressé. Les formes signalées par les différents auteurs étaient d’ailleurs assez peu nom breuses puisqu’elles ne dépa-ssaient pas la vingtaine. Les prospections qu’il nous a été donné d’effectuer, tant à la côte qu’en dragage, depuis septembre 1960, nous ont montré que la région de Roscoff est, en fait, beaucoup plus riche en parasites, leur nombre s’élevant, en effet, à 52 espèces parasitant 48 hôtes différents. De même que nous l’avons fait dans une note précédente (Bour don, 1960), nous accompagnerons la présente liste d’une statistique d’infestation pour chaque espèce et, éventuellement, de quelques remarques d’ordre morphologique ou éthologique, réservant à plus tard la publication d’un travail systématique et biologique d’ensemble sur la faune des Epicarides des côtes de France. RHIZOCÉPHALES. Famille des Peltogas+ridae. SEPTOSACCUS RODRIGUEZI (Fraisse, 1876). Hôte : Diogenes pugilator (Roux, 1829). Matériel examiné : 2.851 individus. Fréquence : 219 cas, soit un taux d’infestation de 7,7 p. 100. Stations : Saint-Efflam ; également Locquirec, d’après Pérez (1928). Remarques. — Des taux d’infestation nettement plus élevés ont été donnés pour cette espèce à Saint-Efflam. C’est ainsi que Pérez (1928, 1929) trouvait un degré de parasitisme d’environ 40 p. 100 et que Veillet (1951) indiquait que le quart des Diogenes portait le Septosaccus. -

Isopods are a highly diversified group of deep-sea fauna, with a wide variety of shapes which 14 must reflect a similar great variety of adaptations to the deep environments. The deep Mediterranean, 15 however, has a low diversity of isopods related to its oligotrophy, the thermal stability of deep-water 16 masses (~12.8 °C below 150 ˗ 200 m) and rather homogeneous geomorphology. -

ABSTRACT Two new parapagurid species with subconical corneas, Oncopagurus conicus n. sp. and Paragiopagurus schnauztr n. ap., are described based on collections by French expeditions to New Caledonia, the Philippines and Solomon Islands, in the we-stern Pacific. These represent the 16th and 18th documented species of Oncopagurus Vemixtyc, 1996 and Paragiopagurus\jimw.K, 1996, respectively. KEYWORDS Two other parapagurids arc known to have subconical corneas, Sympagurus Crustacea, acinops Lemaitre, 1989, and Oncopagurus minutus (Henderson, 1896). A worldwide taxonomic and distributional synthesis of the deep-water hermit crab genus Oncopagurus Lemaitre, 1996 is presented. This genus, originally defi ned for 10 species is set apart from other Parapaguridae as well as other Paguroidea, by one synapomorphy: the presence of an upwardly curved epistomial spine. This study is based on a large amount of specimens deposited in major museums and collected during deep-sea sampling across the world oceans since the late 1800s, with the bulk of material coming from French campaigns in the Indo-Pacifi c, central and south Pacifi c during the last 40 years. A total of 24 species are recognised in this investigation, nine of which are new and fully described and illustrated. All previously known species are diagnosed or re-described, including fi gures assembled from recent published accounts or newly illustrated, of the most important morphological features useful for identifi cations. Information for each species includes a synonymy (full or abbreviated if a synonymy has recently been published), material examined (type and non-types), variations when signifi cant, colouration when available, habitat or type of housing used, distribution, and remarks on taxonomy and morphological affi nities. Rare colour photographs are included for fi ve species. -
