POPS STARS Singing sensations Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato join the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular op stars brighten this Independence Day when Psingers Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato join the Boston Pops on the Hatch Shell stage for the 43rd annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular (refer to listing, page 15). This summer concert staple by the Charles River begins at 8:30 p.m. when, for the 21st year, conductor Keith Lockhart and the Pops dive into a treasure trove of patriotic and popular favorites, eventually joined by Jonas and Lovato before the grand finale of the “1812 Overture” and the beginning of the ever-awe-inspiring fireworks at 10:30 p.m. About half a million spectators lined the banks of the Charles River for last year’s performance, so get your spot early if you want an up-close look—and listen—of this beloved tradition. —Scott Roberto 6 PANORAMA Robert Capa, November 1940, Copyright International Center of Photography/Magnum Photos He transformed American literature in the 20th century.
