Dear Holy Pilgrims: Beloved pilgrims, along the journey of LENT - a story for you: Two men from the city were on a camping trip. Every night, the mosquitoes were so fierce that they had to hide under their blankets to keep them from being bitten. Then one of them saw mass of fireflies and said to his friend, “We might as well give up. They’re coming at us with flashlights!” Friends, we’re like the two men on a camping trip, called: a passage of renewal in the SEASON OF LENT. However, fear hides us under a blanket of a desperate humanity immersed in a pathetic world of hopelessness. But today, in Matthews’ transfiguration narrative, Jesus is like the numerous fireflies searching for our broken lives shattered by racism, greed, hatred, betrayal, violence and discrimination. With his burning light, he will restore us to who we are from the beginning of creation – God’s image and likeness; and garb us with his dignity and divinity that guarantees us of our transfiguration.
