Secretary’s Report a. Soldiers Memorial not available until the end of June. The discussion then highlighted the following points: • It maybe necessary for games to finish as late as 2pm • We need to get more grounds to host non-home games. As Soldiers Memorial will open at end of June, this will be available in the wettest part of the season. • Possible places to consider were Benjafield Terrace, Cornelian Bay. Lenah Valley and Hutchins indicated they may have some space. 1 • We might need to purchase some goals. 5. Officer’s Reports a. Rosters • Possible problem with lack of grounds leading to later games b. Policy • Working with Children Registration - Delegates for each club will be sent a form to state that they are complying with the necessary Working with Children Registration. • Need to update game policies to cover the change for U12 to 9-side game with offside, need to consider size of goals c. Development • Junior Soccer now called Mini Roos, with a new sponsor AIA Vitality. There is a new program Mini Roos kickoff for 4-9 year olds to try to get kids playing and having fun. Any club or school could set up a Mini Roos kickoff program. • A pilot program with Mini Roos will be held with FFT (Ben Horgan) • Each team has access to a Mini Roos pack containing bibs and cones from FFT. 6. General Business a. Reminder that CRJSA subsidises coach training with 50% of the fee for 2 coaches per club b. Lenah Valley looking to upgrade oval and are fundraising. Recommended to put together a proposal and send to the next delegate meeting. They are also holding a Day on the Oval to fundraise on 21st February asked to send electronic version of ad so we can distribute. c. CRJSA would like to recognise the fantastic contribution of Tony Chaffey over the long time he has been involved with Junior football. d. Gala days should be held in term 1, earlier than last year to maximise benefit. Also need some girl clinics earlier on to increase participation. e. We need to get the other clubs that don’t attend the CRJSA meetings more involved. f. Visit by CEO FFT Mr Mike Palmer • Mike introduced himself and gave a summary of this background and spoke about how strong the game was in Tasmania, and how FFT hoped it would grow off the back of the success in the Asian Cup. • He then highlighted 3 key areas of importance: 1. The development at Cambridge will go ahead and have 12 pitches, which could be used for Junior Tournaments, it is not expected that everyone has to play there. 2 2. Development of Women’s Football. FFT have appointed Rani Cavarretta to help facilitate growth. 3. There will be a full review of junior football to see what FFT can do to help. They will be talking to associations, clubs, delegates, and other sporting organisations. The aim is to get more children moving onto the Youth level. • Field Participation Officers are a high priority but not yet appointed. It is likely the FPOs will be involved with clubs that offer SAP, spend more time with parents/clubs around the schools/games and doing some sessions with kids at schools. It was noted that CRJSA and delegates would like more information about what FPOs were doing so that the benefit could be maximised. FPOs in schools in term 1 is likely to help with increasing players in term 2. • CRJSA and FFT should work together to increase girls in Football. There was a discussion about how SAP was not working that well with girls and it could simply be a timing issue and that girls don’t want to do it twice a week. Could we consider having something to extend players but not as extreme as SAP. Could we send Rani into schools for some girl only sessions? • Ben Horgan and Rani Cavarretta should be invited to the March delegate meeting to discuss development ideas.
