Ashdown Redefines Acoustic Amplification m With the New Ashdown Acoustic Range

Booth 4342, Winter NAMM 2013

Building from the hugely successful Acoustic Radiator range, Ashdown Engineering launches the all new Ashdown Acoustic range for 2013. Ashdown established a name for itself in the world of Acoustic Guitar amps back in the 1990’s and before that with a previous company way back in the early 80’s, when Ashdown’s main man Mark Gooday started the AA100 unplugged revolution. With over 30 years experience manufacturing Acoustic- specific amplifiers, Ashdown know what is needed to make a first-class acoustic amp.

Introducing the All New Ashdown Acoustic Range, comprising of the AA-100, 100-watt Acoustic Combo, the AA-40-Cube, 40-watt Acoustic Combo, the AA-Power-Cube 40, 40-watt powered extension cube and the AA Preamp Pedal. All amps are available made in the UK with high-end Latvian birch ply cabinets, handmade with dove-tail joints and finished with a natural gloss lacquer to ensure durability and quality of finish. Finally, acoustic amplifiers that look as good as they sound and reproduce acoustic instruments with warmth, depth and exceptional clarity.

The AA-100 features a custom made 10” Italian Sica driver, selected for its highly responsive mid-range with delicate highs, complimented by the tight low end and when combined with a high-end studio-quality tweeter, produces a stunning full range tone. The AA-100 also features a cleverly integrated, tuned top port utilizing the space available and enabling the air from within the chamber to be forced through the handle port, enhancing the low-end response, creating huge room-filling tones. The AA-40 uses a custom designed Italian Sica AAC40 AAPC 8” driver.

Ashdown will also be introducing more affordable versions of the new Ashdown Acoustics in a rugged black finish made offshore. A heavy duty, black gloss, spatter finish is applied to 12mm plywood cabinets, giving a protective layer of paint for the gigging player. Using custom made AA drivers, designed to suit the dynamics of the amps with the same configuration of the AA UK made range. The Ashdown Acoustic Cubes are portable (H:230mm, 9.5”; W:230mm, 9.5”; D:230mm, AAPP 9.6”; 7.5kgs, 3.4lbs), powerful and sonically outstanding; tuned to represent the characteristics and complexity of the acoustic guitar. Using a very simple and easy to use preamp featuring reverb in the Cube 40 as well as a very handy notch filter that helps tame unwanted frequencies and feedback.

The new Ashdown Power Cube is a 40-watt powered extension monitor that can be used in conjunction with the new Ashdown Acoustic Preamp Pedal to create a stunning and easy to transport acoustic rig, or run two in stereo, enabling outstanding personal monitoring on stage or at home.

The Ashdown Acoustic Preamp Pedal has a very simple but effective layout utilizing many of the features of the classic Ashdown Acoustic preamp. It includes a notch filter, high and low EQ rotary controls as well as the Ashdown pre-shape feature. There is also a very useful balanced DI out on the back of the pedal allowing the user to run their signal straight into the PA for ease of use and will keep any sound guy happy, no need for a DI box. A must-have for any gigging acoustic player. AA100 BLK For High Res images please download the link below:

OctaDose - Bass Octave Taking what Ashdown has learned from their very own tried-and-tested sub harmonizer from their ABM range of bass amplifiers, Dr Green has expanded on this, allowing control over wet and dry signals and amount of octave the user wants to add. The OctaDose will track down to a low-B with the utmost precision and the simple rotary controls make it easy to dial in anything from subtle undertones to full-on sub-synth bass. Reverb Pedal Compressor Pedal

Doctors Note - Bass Envelope Filter Bringing back to the forefront of technology, Dr Green has produced an Envelope Filter pedal that sounds as cool as it looks, full of huge traditional sonic envelope goodness. Simple rotary controls enable you to dial in and set your oscillating frequencies with ease, allowing the funk to pour from the player’s finger tips.

Bass Verb - Bass Reverb The Dr Green Bass Verb is one of the simplest pedals in the range. With the control of the wet or dry signal, the user can easily dial in the perfect reverb, from endless cathedral style reverb to nice, tight, subtle, short plate style. Simply a fantastic quality and easy-to-use reverb pedal made for bass players who need a bit of space around their core tone.

The Aspirin - Bass Compression OCTAVE Pedal A high quality bass compressor pedal in a compact easy-to-use package, the Aspirin is perfect for the bass player seeking consistency in their sound. Using the Input to drive the amount of signal, the pedal automatically processes the compression after the ratio has been adjusted to suit, a simple output pot then allows the output level to be perfectly matched to the volume required.

Ashdown Introduces New Lightweight ABM models with the NEO Range

Booth 4342, Winter NAMM 2013

New for 2013, Ashdown launches the all-new ABM NEO range of cabinets and combos. Using the iconic ABM preamp coupled with a very special, 400-watt, lightweight power section, bass players can enjoy pure Ashdown ABM tone in a compact and lightweight package.

Handmade in the UK, Ashdown introduces the ABM-NEO-210 Combo and NEO-115 combo, both fitted with Ashdown high-frequency horns and custom Italian Sica Neodymium drivers, making the iconic line now a little bit easier to transport between shows. All combos are sized to be matched with an extension cab from the range making it easy to expand your rig. For the bass player who craves lightweight but won’t compromise on tone, Ashdown introduces three new NEO cabinet options - the ABM-NEO-408 (4 x 8”), ABM-NEO 210 and ABM NEO 115 cabinets. All ABM NEO cabinets are handmade in the UK using marine quality premium 15mm Latvian birch ply and are front-ported for maximum forward dispersion.

The ABM EVO III pre amp was designed to satisfy both bass purists and tech-heads alike. Three straightforward rotary tone controls provide 20dB of cut and boost at 60Hz, 660Hz and 5kHz, and are supplemented by two pairs of additional sliders, giving 15dB cut and boost at 180Hz, 340Hz, 1.3kHz and 2.6kHz. The EQ can be switched in/out by a footswitch, enabling players to go from a flat, fretless sound to a boosted sound via a favorite EQ setting. A ABM NEO C115 COMBO single input is switchable for passive and active instruments, with a blend of solid state and ABM NEO C210 COMBO dual triode tube preamp stages which can be pre-set and selected by footswitch, providing access to a massive range of clean, warm and overdriven tones.

Also footswitchable is the on-board compressor and the mighty Ashdown sub-harmonic generator, which precisely tracks the main signal and reproduces it an octave lower. A sub-harmonic level control enables the player to add just the right amount of low-end reinforcement - everything from a subtle, thickening of the sound to unbridled, bone- crushing tone. The ABM EVO III preamp features a front-panel mounted, balanced DI out with pre or post EQ switching, a sub-bass output, a tuner output, an FX loop and a line input for the connection of an external sampler or sound source. Output muting cuts the signal from the DI output but leaves the tuner output ‘live’, allowing the player to tune up in silence.
