CAFOD Family Fast Day: Friday 23 February CAFOD’s Family Fast Day this Lent is an opportunity to support our brothers and sisters who don’t have enough to eat. On Friday 23 February can you give up a meal, or eat a simple meal, in solidarity? This Lent, your donation will make double the difference. For every pound you donate to CAFOD, the UK Government will also donate a pound, up to a total of £5 million, meaning twice the number of lives can be transformed. Please collect your Fast Day envelope from church this week and give generously in next Sunday’s Second Collection (25th February).In light of recent news reports you may wish to know CAFOD has a statement about safeguarding vulnerable communities on cafod.org.uk [and a copy is on our parish noticeboard]. First Anniversary Remembrances We remember our departed loved ones whose First Anniversary occur around this time. Each month a list of their names will be placed on the Lectern in front of the Sacred Heart Statue at St Chad’s and in front of the Statue of St Anthony at St Peter’s For Quiet Reflection May They Rest In Peace. SEASON OF LENT: As a season of conversion, lent is a time to return to God with all our hearts, an opportunity to renew our friendship with God, an opportunity to open wide our hearts to the ‘others’ in our midst; the elderly, the bereaved and the lonely. Lent is a time for renewal and refreshment. Let’s repent our sins and receive God’s mercy and forgiveness. WALK WITH ME: Please do take a copy for yourself and your family.
