HOLY MARTYRS ALL INVITED TO CELEBRATE WITH US World Day of Prayer for the Sick 2

MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS FOR THE TWENTY-SIXTH WORLD DAY OF THE SICK 2018

The theme for this year’s Day of the Sick is provided by the words that Jesus spoke from the Cross to Mary, his Mother, and to John: “Woman, behold your son ... Behold your mother. And from that hour the disciple took her into his home” (Jn 19:26-27). ...To Mary, Mother of tender love, we wish to entrust all those who are ill in body and soul, that she may sustain them in hope. We ask her also to help us to be welcoming to our sick brothers and sisters. The Church knows that she requires a special grace to live up to her evangelical task of serving the sick. May our prayers to the Mother of God see us united in an incessant plea that every member of the Church may live with love the vocation to serve life and health. May the Virgin Mary intercede for this Twenty-sixth World Day of the Sick; may she help the sick to experience their suffering in communion with the Lord Jesus; and may she support all those who care for them. To all, the sick, to healthcare workers and to volunteers, I cordially impart my Apostolic Blessing.

Diary of the Rehab of the Sacred Heart Rectory Apartment 6

The Design Team & Painters • Our Project was to rehab the Sacred Heart Rectory apartment as much as possible by the end of January. The Knights of Columbus Council 15791 took on the Project after the idea was proposed by Father Daniel Greenleaf , our Pastor. • Three couples met on December 30: Grand Knight Mike Crowley and Claudia, Knight James King and Bethanne, and FS Marc Held (Chair) and Katie. Bethanne decided on the color scheme and donated most of the paint.

We were off and Running. The week of January 6 to 13 James prepped the walls for others to paint. By the end of this week, 14 Parishioners spent over eighty hours. Every Room in what will be Father Paul Marquis new home was prepped and painted with loving care and high spirits! Only 17 days until the deadline!

Furniture pick up and Move in On January 19 & 20, we picked up items for Father Paul, so we might transform an institutional space to a real home. • We are so grateful to PGK Peter & Kris Rogers for a China Cabinet with drawers and a glass enclosed top • Susan Robaczewski was generous and donated two marble top tables and two chairs for Father’s comfort . • Brian Kilroy donated two dressers and a sofabed for the guest room and two very heavy oak dressers. We were grateful that he took apart his basement to help move the items. • Br. Tom & Karen Romano donated a comfy leather chair. • Jodi Duran donated tables and lamps • Br. David and Patty Spellman donated lamps, artwork, and more. • We tried going through the front door … and also the outside steps and back door . We learned that both ways are difficult. • Aided by great leadership in logistics by Tom & Frank, somehow we were able to get four pickup truckloads into the Rectory on January 19 & 20.
