YOURS FOR £600 £100 per month for 6 months ARO117 £600 01303 278137 Charles Kingsford Smith was a world famous Australian aviator whose notable feats include the first trans-Pacific flight between the USA and Australia, the first non-stop crossing of the Australian mainland, the first flights between Australia and New Zealand, and the speed record from Australia to London in only 10.5 days. Patrick Taylor was an Australian aviator who during WWI was commissioned into the Royal Flying Corps and awarded the Military Cross in 1917. Following the war he continued his career in civil aviation in Australia and joined Charles Kingsford Smith and Charles Ulm during several pioneering flights. During the Second World War he served with the ATA. John Pethybridge was an Australian aviation pioneer and co-pilot to Charles Kingsford-Smith aboard ‘Lady Southern Cross’ when they disappeared in 1935 above the Andaman Sea whilst attempting to break the speed record between England and Australia. John Stannage was the radio operator aboard the maiden east to west transatlantic flight which flew between Ireland and Newfoundland in 1930; under the pilotage of the famous Charles Kingsford Smith. When the triumphant crew returned they were greeted with a ticker-tape parade in New York which stretched for miles. The plane was branded as the Atlas Sky Merchant and to generate publicity for their showroom in the sky they organised an around the world flight. The company worked with the American Air Mail Society to organise 4,500 air sheets to be carried on the flight. The flight left New Jersey on January 5th 1948 and was piloted by Captain Ivan Smirnoff, a decorated WWI Russian fighter ace.
