General Medicine Specialist Physicians Employment opportunities: • Public Appointment FTE - Bunbury Hospital and • Visiting Medical Officer - St John of God Bunbury Hospital 2.0 Public Hospital sessional FTE available (0.4 to 1 FTE per Physician - negotiable), with concurrent VMO opportunities available at the co-located private St. John of God Bunbury Hospital, Western Australia (WA). The Opportunities Bunbury Hospital (BH) and St. John of God Hospital Bunbury (SJGHB) are co-located on the South-West Health Campus, situated in the city of Bunbury, on the south-west coast of Western Australia. The hospitals share a common emergency department, theatre complex and support facilities. Physicians are sought to contribute to the acute inpatient general medical service at both hospitals. Establishment of a private outpatient practice, to support inpatient services and provide a medical consultation service for the wider community, is encouraged and will be supported. General Physicians with a sub-specialty interest (eg. Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology/Stroke Medicine, Medical Oncology, Renal Medicine, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Endocrinology) will be well-placed to complement the sub-specialty interests of the existing Physician work-force. Due to a longstanding shortage of Physician services in the south-west, all Physicians will find there is a high demand for their expertise in the outpatient setting. The South West Health Campus Bunbury Hospital and St John of God Bunbury Hospital are both soon to undergo redevelopment and expansion, expected to be completed within 4 to 6 years. The South-West has grown in population since the Campus was established in 1999. Along with an aging population, rapid population growth has led to the South-West Health Campus nearing its capacity. Generous funding has been secured from the WA State Government and St. John of God Health Care to redevelop the Campus facilities. This is an exciting time for both Hospitals, with a bottom-up approach in system re-design informing the development of new infra- structure, such as a re-furbished Emergency Department, Critical Care Services, Palliative Care Unit, Theatre Complex and General Ward areas, along with new Medical and Surgical Assessment Units, and Outpatient areas.
