News of the month

COMSATS (CIIT) upgraded to COMSATS University (CUI)

Now CIIT has progressed to full-fledged University. It is heartening to note that COMSATS University, from the very first day will have top ranking. The National Assembly has passed the bill to bestow status of university upon COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), a Public-Sector Degree Awarding Institute. The bill was presented by the Federal Minister of Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain. A consensus was reached by the parliament after much debate. The up gradation of CIIT to a ‘University’ is a significant milestone in the Institute’s quest for becoming the nation’s premier higher education inspiration with strong national and international standings.

On this auspicious occasion, Rector of the CIIT, Prof Dr Raheel Qamar (Tamgha-i-Imtiaz) thanked ALLAH for His Blessings and acknowledged the efforts and guidance of Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Founding Rector and Chairman Board of Governors of CIIT. He expressed his gratitude to the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, all Board members, management of the Institute for their contributions.

The Rector CIIT further expressed his gratitude to the Government of and Parliament for appreciating and considering the status of the Institute among all Higher Education Institutions and Universities of the country.

Celebrate World Book Day LIS COMSATS University

Danish Society of Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus celebrated the World Book Day on May 9, 2018. Renowned personalities including Justice (R) Nasira Javed Iqbal, Amjad Islam Amjad, Salman Ghani, Imran Khan, Bilal Ahmad and Aslam Dogar honored the occasion with their presence and participated as guest

speakers.Guest speakers threw light on the importance of “TheBook”. They appreciated the effort made by LIS department. In the end Mr. Amjad Islam Amjad and Justice (R) Nasira Javed Iqbal delivered shields and certificates to guests and organizers respectively.

New Employee’s Welcome

“Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”. The library staff of CUI Lahorewelcomedthe newly inducted staff members includes Ali Raza, Jahanzaib Imtiaz & Anza Tariq& Muhammad Maaz in our Team. A dinner has been has arranged on May 26th at Gourmet Restaurant. The library in charge Dr. Muhammad Tariq, all library staff includes the newly inducted members attended the dinner. Ms. Tooba Ahmad was specially invited in this dinner.

PECAccreditation visit

To give accreditation to EE-Electronics Program, PEC accreditation body visited COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus on May 11, 2018. They also visited library procedures, services and resources. They visited different sections of the library. Library in charge Dr. Muhammad Tariq briefed them about the library, particularly the section related to Electrical Engineering Department. PEC team was very much satisfied with the library and appreciated the efforts of library staff to provide the quality services to its users.

Mr. Ghulam Farid Attend PASTIC Training Mr. Ghulam Farid (LDC Library) attended there weeks PASTIC National workshop on "Short Term Training Courses for Library Professionals" it was really productive and he gained a lot of knowledge and new ideas in the field of LIS.
