Lily of the Valley

He's the Lily of the Valley, Oh, my Lawd; He's the Lily of the Valley, Oh, my Lawd; King Jesus in the chariot ride, my Lawd, Oh, my Lawd, With four white horses by His side, my Lawd, Oh, my Lawd. What kind of shoes are those You wear, my Lawd, Oh, my Lawd, That You can ride up in the air, my Lawd, Oh, my Lawd. These shoes I wear are the gospel shoes, my Lawd, my Lawd; And you can wear them if you choose, my Lawd, my Lawd. He's the Lily of the Valley, Oh, my Lawd; He's the Lily of the Valley, Oh, my Lawd, my Lawd.

Good News!

Good news, chariot's a com-in', Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me be-hin'. Dere 's a seat for me in the heavens I know, Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me be-bin'. Deres a long white robe in the heavens I know, Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me be-hin'. O Lawdy, Good news, chariot's a com-in', Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me be-hiri'. Bed-duh git on bod an' don't you be late, Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me behin'. 'Cause the chariot's a -com-in' from the heavenly gates, Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me be-bin'. 01' Moses is a-lead-in' an' she won't wait long, Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me behin'. So git a-mov-in ' chil-lun when you hear this song, Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me behin'. Good news, chariot's a com-in', Don't want-uhm to leave-uh me be-hin. Good news, Lawd! Still I Rise

Though I have been wounded; aching heart, full of pain, Still I rise yes, still I rise. Jus' like a budding rose, my bloom is nourished by rain, Still I rise yes, still I rise. Haven't time to wonder why, though fearful I strive, Still I rise yes, still I rise. My pray'r and faith uphold me 'til my courage arrives, Still I rise yes, still I rise.

Still I rise as an eagle, soaring above eve'ry fear. With each day I succeed, I grow strong an' believe That it's all within my reach, I'm reaching for the skies, Bolstered by courage, yes, still I rise. Yes, it's all within my reach; I'm reaching for the skies. Yes, still I rise.

Gentle as a woman; tender sweet are my sighs. Still I rise yes, still I rise. Strength is in my tears and healing rains in my cries. Still I rise yes, still I rise. Plunging depths of anguish, I determine to strive. Still I rise yes, still I rise. My pray'r and faith uphold me 'til my courage arrives, Still I rise yes, still I rise.

Though you see me slump with heartache; Heart so heavy that it breaks. Be not deceived I fly on birds' wings, rising sun, its healing rays. Look at me, you see a woman; Gentle as a butterfly. But don't you think, not for one moment, that I'm not strong because I cry. Yes, still I rise as an eagle, soaring above eve 'ry fear. With each day I succeed, I grow strong an' believe That it's all within my reach, I'm reaching for the skies, Bolstered by courage, yes, still I rise. Yes, it's all within my reach; I'm reaching for the skies. Yes, still I rise.

By pray'r and faith, still I rise, Yes, Still l rise as an eagle, soaring above eve'ry fear. With each day I succeed, I grow strong an' believe That it's all within my reach, I'm reaching for the skies, Bolstered by courage, yes, still I rise. I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes. You said you'd rock me in the cradle of your arms. You said you'd hold me 'til the storms oflife were gone. You said you'd comfort me in times like these and now I need you. Now I need you ... And you are - gone. Since you've gone and left me, there's been so little beauty, but I know I saw it clearly through your eyes. Now the world outside is such a cold and bitter place. Here inside I have few things that will console. And when I try to hear your voice above the storms of life, then I remember that I was told. I think on the things that made me feel so wonderful when I was young. I think on the things that made me laugh, made me dance, made me sing. I think on the things that made me grow into a being full of pride. I think on these things, for they are true. I thought that you were gone, but now I know you're with me. You are the voice that whispers all I need to hear. I know a "Please", a "Thank you", and a smile will take me far. I know that I am you and you are me, and we are one. I know that who I am is numbered in each grain of sand. l know that lam blessed, again and over again. I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.

Babethandaza

Sin nje ngemi thandazo We are like this because of prayer O mama bagudala, Babethandaza. O our ancestors, they were praying Siyahamb 'ekukanyen 'kwenkos ', We are marching in the light of God. Siyahamba, hamba, We are marching, marching, Siyahamb 'ekukanyen 'kwenkos '. We are marching in the light of God. Set Me As A Seal

Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm; For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as the grave, For love is strong as death; Flashes thereof are flashes of fire, A very flame of the Lord. Many waters cannot quench love, Neither can the floods drown it; For love is strong as death. Set me as a seal upon thine heart. - Song of Solomon

Bring Me All Your Dreams

Bring me all your dreams, you dreamers. Bring me all your heart melodies that l may wrap them in a blue cloud-cloth away from the too-rough fingers of the world. - Langston Hughes

No Mirrors In My Nana's House

There were no mirrors in my Nana's house, and the beauty that l saw in everything, was in her eyes. There were no mirrors in my Nana's house, so l never knew that my nose was too flat and l never knew that my skin was too black and l never knew my clothes didn't fit and l never knew these were things that l 'd missed And the beauty in everything was in her eyes. And I was intrigued by the cracks in the walls, the dust in the sun looked like snow that would fall the noise in the hallway was music to me, the trash and the rubbish would cushion my feet and the beauty in everything was in her eyes. The world outside was a magical place, l only knew love and l didn't know hate, the beauty in everything was in her eyes. Child, look deep into my eyes. - Ysaye Maria Barnwell I Dream a World

I dream a world where man No other man will scorn, Where love will bless the earth And peace its path adorn I dream a world where all Will know sweet freedom's way, Where greed no longer saps the soul Nor avarice blights the day. A world I dream where black or white, Whatever race you be, Will share the bounties of the earth And every man is free. Where wretchedness will hang its head And joy, like a pearl, Attends the needs of all mankind• Of such I dream, my world! - Langston Hughes

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die, Life is a broken-winged bird, That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go, Life is a barren field, Frozen with snow. - Langston Hughes

Calvary

Calvary! Surely He died on Calvary! Can't you hear Him calling His father? Surely He died on Calvary! Hear Him saying, "It is finished!" I Can Tell The World

I can tell the world, yes, about this I can tell the nations, yes, that I'm blessed. What my Lord has done, Tell him the conqueror has come, And He brought joy to my life. My Lord done just what He said He healed the sick and He raised the dead. He lifted me when I was down. He placed my feet on solid ground. Oh Lord he brought Joy that momin', when He saved me. That momin', when He blessed me. I'll tell it, how He brought this joy to my soul.

Lehigh Choral Arts Artists-in-Residence programs One of our great strengths at Lehigh is being able to bring professionals and amateurs together on stage to perform masterworks of the choral-orchestral repertoire. Our Artist-in-Residence program brings internationally renowned soloists to perform and give masterclasses for our vocal students. We are so grateful to those families and friends who have helped us create our Sebastian, Dyer, Finkel, Shabaker and Comfort Artist-in-Residence programs. The Sametz Artist-in-Residence is supported by contributions from our Choral Union members themselves who feel that they want to give something back for all the joy they have in singing with Lehigh Choral Arts. If you would like to help support either our Artist-in-Residence or Choral Scholar programs, please call 610 758 3833.
