The Influences of Yellow River Flow-Sediment Regulation Field Experiments on the Salinity in the Bohai Sea 1 1 1 2 Xinyan Mao , Wensheng Jiang , Peng Zhao , Huiwang Gao 1 Physical Oceanography Laboratory, Ocean University of China 2 College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Ocean University of China Introduction The Bohai Sea consists of 5 parts: Liaodong Bay, Laizhou Bay, Bohai Bay, Bohai Strait, and central area. It is typically a shallow shelf sea, where the mean depth is only 18m, and the deepest place is at the Bohai Strait, not more than 80m. The variation of salinity in the Bohai Sea is influenced by freshwater flux, including runoff, evaporation, and precipitation. Besides, the exchange with North Yellow Sea is also very important. In the last 20 years, the evaporation is more than annual-mean value (Lin, et al. 2001 ). It is reported by Wu that the mean salinity has increased from 28 to 30 in last 35 years before 2000, and North Yellow Sea water's strong intrusion often took place (Wu, et al. 2004). Generally speaking, Yellow River (YR) runoff is the key factor to the salinity in the Bohai Sea, especially in the Laizhou Bay. Because of the booming economy and other anthropogenic influences, the runoff into the sea was less and less these years. All of the factors lead to the increasing salinity. Since 2002, Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) has conducted a field experiment of flow-sediment regulation every year. The three schedules are, respectively, July 4th -15th, 2002; Sept. 6th -18th' 2003; June 19th - July 13th' 2004. -

The oil slicks have spread from the point of the oil spill to the east and north-western Bohai Sea. We make a comparison between the changes caused by the oil spill on the chlorophyll concentration and the sea surface temperature using MODIS data, which can be used to analyze the effect of the oil spill on the Bohai Sea ecosystem. We found that the Bohai Sea oil spill caused abnormal chlorophyll concentration distributions and red tide nearby area of oil spill. Accepted July 16, 2013) SUMMARY: A serosurvey of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) infection in domestic animals was conducted in the rural areas of Laizhou City, Shandong Province, China to deter- mine strategies for control and prevention of SFTS. Serum samples were collected from cattle, goats, dogs, pigs, and chickens and antibodies against SFTSV were detected by double-antigen sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Of 641 serum samples, the SFTSV seropositive rate was 41.8z (268/641): 74.8z,57.1z,52.1z,35.9z,and0z, for goats, cattle, dogs, chickens, and pigs, respectively. We also found that the SFTSV seropositive rates were high among the aged cattle, goats, dogs, and chickens. SFTSV infections existed among cattle, goats, dogs, and chickens in Laizhou City, and goats had the highest seroprevalence. SFTSV seroprevalence increased with an increase in age among animals. -

Based on the evaluation methods and systems of information measurement level, and according to the principles of agriculture information subject, the study constructed 13 indices system for the measurement of the rural areas and agriculture information level in Yellow-river Delta in 2007. Spatial autocorrelation model of rural areas and agriculture information of 19 country units showed that the comprehensive information level of Hanting, Shouguang, Guangrao, Bincheng, Huimin, Wudi and Yangxin country unit is very significant, has the obvious spatial agglomeration and homogeneity characteristics, but information level agglomeration of Kenli country and Zouping city has the significant heterogeneity, and information level agglomeration characteristics of other 10 country units is not significant. The radius surface of the complicated information level from radial basis function model indicated that rural areas and agriculture information service has a certain service radius, the distance of service radius in theory is 30Km, the gradient and hierarchy is obvious. According to it, the comprehensive service node should be established in Bincheng district and the secondary service node should be set up in Wudi country for improving the service efficiency. -

Re- sults obtained showed a number of observations: 1) The annual mean temperature of Shandong Peninsula showed a significant increasing trend, with a distinct abrupt change point detected around 1990, during the past 5 decades. The warming of the Peninsula over the last 50 years was due mainly to the significant increase of annual minimum tem- perature. The annual maximum temperature demonstrated a mixed trend of decreasing and increasing, but was statisti- cally insignificant, and no abrupt change was detected; 2) The annual precipitation exhibited a decreasing trend during the past 5 decades, with an abrupt change detected around 1980 at most stations; but there was an earlier transition point at 1966, at a few stations. -
