  • Jewel Is an Acclaimed American Singer, Songwriter, Actress, Poet, Painter, Philanthropist and Daughter to an Alaskan Cowboy Singer-Songwriter
WORLDWIDE SPEAKERS GROUP LLC YOUR GLOBAL PARTNER IN THOUGHT LEADERSHIP JEWEL Jewel is an acclaimed American singer, songwriter, actress, poet, painter, philanthropist and daughter to an Alaskan cowboy singer-songwriter. From the remote ranch of her Alaskan youth to the triumph of international stardom, the four-time Grammy nominee, hailed by the New York Times as a “songwriter bursting with talents” has enjoyed career longevity rare among her generation of artists. Her singular style and beauty continuously land her on the covers of such diverse magazines as TIME, People, Entertainment Weekly, Vanity Fair, In Style, Glamour and Seventeen. Stuff listed her among its “102 Sexiest Women in the World” while Blender went further, crowning her “rock’s sexiest poet.” Jewel launched her musical career early on, performing as a father-daughter act in Alaskan biker bars and lumberjack joints. Her solo career took off after she moved to San Diego, where she experienced moderate success in the folk-coffeehouse scene while living out of her car. Her first record, a deeply introspective, modern folk collection called Pieces of You, sold about 3,000 copies, nearly all in San Diego, in the nine months after its February 1995 debut. She then hit the road, touring with and opening for the likes of Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, and Neil Young. She followed up her debut album with a succession of albums that steadily built her reputation and fan base: Spirit, This Way, and 0304. After a tremendous amount of success as a singer-songwriter and over 27 million albums sold, Jewel returned to her roots with the release of two country albums Perfectly Clear and Sweet and Wild.

  • IF YOU HIT YOUR HEAD Hard Enough, Your Brain Gets Shaken up Inside Your Skull. You Might See Stars Or Pass out for a Few Minutes
1 IF YOU HIT YOUR HEAD hard enough, your brain gets shaken up inside your skull. You might see stars or pass out for a few minutes, and after that, a bunch of things happen. It doesn’t mat- ter how you got hurt— whether you slipped on ice or had a car accident or fell from a tree. People will start fl ashing lights in your eyes, talking about concussions and traumatic brain injury. And even though your head hurts and you’re exhausted, they won’t want you to go to sleep. They’ll shake you awake every couple hours, shining lights, asking questions. Your head will throb, and you’ll be dizzy, and you might throw up. But that’s not the worst part. The most terrifying thing about hitting your head so hard is when you wake up missing pieces of yourself. Pieces of the per- son you were before it happened. Things you should remember— who found you after you fell from the tree stand, why you were dizzy and hadn’t eaten lunch, KATE MESSNER what kind of bird you were trying to see when you leaned for- ward too far— are gone. Things you could once do— kick a soc- cer ball without losing your balance, play air guitar with your best friend, climb into a kayak, or stand steady on the house boat deck to pinch dead blossoms off the geraniums— all gone. Erased. Whole pieces of you are missing because your brain bumped against your skull. That’s why I wanted to go to I-CAN.

  • American Society of Plastic Surgeons Closes Loop on Breast Cancer
American Society of Plastic Surgeons Closes Loop on Breast Cancer During First BRA Day USA, October 17 Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons, Singer-Songwriter Jewel and Supporters Across the Country Unite to Educate Women about Breast Reconstruction FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 10, 2012 ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – On October 17, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF) will launch the first-ever Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day USA, leading the charge to promote education, awareness and access to breast reconstruction following mastectomy or lumpectomy. The statistics are alarming: 7 out of 10 women eligible for breast reconstruction following cancer surgery are not being informed of their options. Studies have also revealed: Eighty-nine percent of women want to see what breast reconstruction surgery results would look like before undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Less than a quarter (23 percent) of women know the wide range of breast reconstruction options available. Only 22 percent of women are familiar with the quality of outcomes that can be expected. Only 19 percent of women understand that the timing of their treatment for breast cancer and the timing of their decision to undergo reconstruction greatly impacts their options and results. “We want to bring the topic of breast reconstruction into the larger breast cancer dialogue,” said ASPS President Malcolm Z. Roth, MD. “Letting women know their reconstruction options before or at the time of diagnosis is critically important to improving life after breast cancer. BRA Day USA is all about inspiring women who are on the road to recovery to a full life beyond breast cancer.” This year, the U.S.

  • Jewel Spirit Album Download Pieces of You
jewel spirit album download Pieces of You. Pieces of You is a charming debut that is somewhat undone by its own naïveté. Jewel has a rich voice and an innocent, beguiling charm that makes "Who Will Save Your Soul," "I'm Sensitive," and "You Were Meant for Me" -- songs with slight, simple lyrics and catchy, sweet melodies -- quite endearing; they sound like a high-school diary brought to life. Songs this simple and sweet need clean, direct arrangements, but Pieces of You was largely recorded live, which means it often sounds ragged and rough. "Who Will Save Your Soul," "You Were Meant for Me," and "Foolish Games" were all re-recorded before they became hit singles, and all three are superior in their single versions, since these live album cuts sound hurried. It's an unfortunate situation, since the slapdash production emphasizes the awkwardness of the lesser songs. Still, Pieces of You has enough charm to make it an ingratiating debut, even if the album doesn't quite fulfill Jewel's potential. Jewel - This Way album flac. This Way is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Jewel. It was released on November 13, 2001, through Atlantic Records. Jewel was looking for a raw, live-sounding album, leading her to be involved in the album's production. THIS WAY represents an extraordinary leap forward in Jewel's artistry, as songwriter, singer, and musician. Recorded in Nashville, the album was produced by Dann Huff and Jewel, marking her first work as a producer. The album includes the first single, "Standing Still," which was co- written by Jewel and Rick Nowles (Madonna, NSYNC) Jewel came dangerously close to drowning in her own solemnity and good intentions with her second album, so it comes as a great relief that This Way, her third effort, finds her lightening up and sharpening her focus, creating an album that never feels as somber or polished as Spirit.

  • Jewel - You Were Meant for Me Episode 198
Song Exploder Jewel - You Were Meant For Me Episode 198 Hrishikesh: You’re listening to Song Exploder, where musicians take apart their songs and piece by piece tell the story of how they were made. My name is Hrishikesh Hirway. (“You Were Meant For Me” by JEWEL) Hrishikesh: This episode contains explicit language. When I was in high school, my girlfriend made a mixtape for me. The first song on it was “You Were Meant for Me,” from the debut album of a singer named Jewel. I probably listened to that mixtape a hundred times over the next few months, so I knew the song really well. A little while later, I started hearing it on the radio, but it sounded different. And then later, I heard yet another version, and that was different, too. For years, I had no idea why this song kept changing. But then I got the chance to do this episode, and ask Jewel directly. Jewel is a singer-songwriter from Homer, Alaska, who’s received four Grammy nominations and sold over 30 million albums. The 25th anniversary of that debut album of hers, Pieces of You, came out last month in November 2020. It turns out it wasn’t a runaway success, not at first. So in this episode, Jewel traces the history of making “You Were Meant For Me,” starting with the demo, and moving through all the different versions that were made along the way to becoming a massive hit song. (“You Were Meant For Me” by JEWEL) Jewel: I’m Jewel.
