[email protected] COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is an introductory overview of design for performance from the perspective of the scenic, costume and lighting designer. You will learn about the design process and the artists and technicians involved in bringing a design to life. The class will be divided into three groups and will rotate through each design area. You will be asked to participate in various roles throughout this course, including researcher, designer and critic. Students’ success in this class requires active learning, and participation. Upon successful completion of this course you will be eligible to take more advanced courses in the respective design disciplines. COURSE GOALS: *To explore the design process through a variety of approaches and techniques. *To use critical thinking to investigate and analyze a text from the perspective of the designer.
