It is for this reason that in Rome there is the greatest concentration in the world of Roman buildings, monuments and Christian buildings and churches. Rome is the seat of the papacy; say the head of the Christian Church. Every religious order, every Christian nation has created its own headquarters in Rome, the most representative possible, as beautiful, magnificent as possible. The best artists, painters, sculptors, architects, have been called to Rome to create their masterpieces.This study describes the photogrammetric documentation of selected noteworthy churches in Rome. Spherical Photogrammetry is the technique used. The survey is limited to the facades only, being a very significant part of the monument and since no permission is necessary. In certain cases, also the church interior was documented. A total of 170 Churches were surveyed. The statistics that one can derive from such a large number is particularly meaningful. Rome is the ideal place to collect the largest possible number of such cases.

She returned for a second year as a Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. http://www.aarome.org/ She mapped out each of the spots listed below here. 1) THE TRASTEVERE CHURCHES These churches are only a 15 minute walk from Campo de Fiori and a bit off the tourist path, so they present a rare opportunity to sit quietly with some of the most beautiful artwork in Rome, for free! San Francesco a Ripa Piazza di S. Francesco d'Assisi, 88, 00153 Roma This early Franciscan convent holds Bernini’s masterpiece, Beata Ludovica Albertoni. "The sculpture and surrounding chapel honors a Roman noble woman who entered the Order of St. Francis following the death of her husband. The day before her own death from fever, Ludovica received the eucharist and then ordered everyone out of her room. When her servants were finally recalled, “they found her face aflame, but so cheerful that she seemed to have returned from Paradise.” (paraphrased from wikipedia) By representing this decisive moment, and like many of his other sculptures, Bernini seems to mingle the idea of physical ecstasy and religious martyrdom. In its day, this sculpture would have scandalized the recently reformed protestant church which considered any representation of a divine figure blasphemous. Bernini finished the sculpture in 1674 when he was seventy one years old. Rome is the largest municipality in Europe, with an inhabited surface area only slightly smaller than that of Greater London and almost double that of the inner Paris suburbs (the Petite Couronne). e spatial distribution of buildings within the municipality is distinctive. Unbuilt areas comprise 73 percent of the territory. ese voids are oen farmland (paradoxically, Rome is the largest rural municipality in Italy) or areas with high environmental, historic or cultural value. Fiumicino, previously part of the municipality of Rome, became an independent municipality in 1991. Its autonomy, made all the more signicant because Fiumicino hosts the international airport, marked the start of an extensive process of economic deconcentration along the route connecting Rome to the airport. In Italy’s case, the implementation of the UrbanSIM model posed several challenges, notably the availability, homogeneity and completeness of data. is paper uses four specic cases (land use, travel times, accessibility, and residential land values) to propose a general methodology to solve problems related to missing or non-homogeneous data. For the land use, we simply combine two different land use data sources, while for accessibility and travel time data, we propose the use of geostatistical methods in order to estimate missing and unavailable data, calculating also the accuracy of the predictions.

Cada motivo procede de diferentes épocas y lugares y todos ellos, aún proviniendo de tan distinta inspiración, responden a un patrón geométrico y a un colorido típico de nuestra azulejería. ‘TIERRAS’ is our 2016 collection that encompasses a variety of qualities and textures. Inspired by different periods and places in the Spanish history, each motif is based on a blend of influences, though all of them have been designed to capture the geometric pattern and distinctive colour scheme typical of Spanish tiles. The new collection features re-workings of historical elements taken from the decorative arts and introduces intricate geometrics printed on linen and refined double width ikats. En esta colección, reinterpretamos los elementos procedentes del mundo de las artes decorativas históricas, presentamos nuevas geometrías estampadas sobre lino y otras con técnica ikat en doble ancho. Seguimos la estela de las geometrías, introduciendo lanas con grafismos característicos de culturas populares o motivos precolombinos.
