Our model for Special Olympics World Winter Games

We will collaborate with other European countries to succeed with this big public health initiative. The aim is to produce a model that other countries will be able to use in the future and that will help the countries to achieve more equal care and improved conditions. The model will be adapted to social systems, sport organizations, and health care in countries in Northern Europe.

How we will collaborate: • Collaboration with Norway in the Host Town Program • Conduct joint research with countries in Northern Europe • Create a model of a Healthy Athletes Program that other countries in Northern Europe can use • Hold seminars to which countries will be invited to discuss the public health of people with intellectual disabilities and at which we can fi nd common methods that we can use to improve it.

Generate Partnerships, a sponsorship agency, has analyzed the commercial potential of category sponsors. Based on budgeting, it has been assumed that much of the potential sponsorship revenue can be directly linked to a barter value, which makes it easier for companies to enter into partnerships.

The responsibility for foundations and donations lies with Special Olympics Sweden.

Responsibility for the processing of commercial partners is expected to be with Generate Partnerships AB.

The sponsorship revenue for Special Olympics World Winter Games 2021 is divided between commercial sponsors and foundations/ donations, 25-30 million SEK for each part.

Commercial partners’ values will be made up largely of barter agree- ments such as hotels, food, beverages, technology, etc., which will immediately become budget relieving for Special Olympics World Winter Games 2021.

One of the advantages of Special Olympics World Winter Games 2021 is that the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Åre 2019 and Biathlon World Cup Östersund have already created great interest locally, regionally, and nationally for the Åre/Östersund region.

The ambition should be to create a platform for future sponsorship in Special Olympics Sweden through sponsors’ involvement in Special Olympics World Winter Games 2021.

The ARENA valuation has not taken into account the Pre-Games Special Olympics World Winter Games 2020. They are considered as a separate upcoming analysis.
