It’s burs,ng its boundaries – it’s so aLrac,ve that great tracts of land all around it are being converted from farmland to housing. It’s a very topical topic in Cambridge – is this a good or less than good thing? So, let’s go and have a look. Picture Cambridge as a gourmand. Open space up-date David Malia (see presentation attached). Q: Are there cattle drinking troughs on Trumpington Meadows Country Park? A: Yes, these are fitted with self-filling water taps to reduce wastage. Q: What teenage provision is there? A: The community park at Trumpington Meadows (T.M) has a multi-use games area and tennis courts and the second phase on the Clay Farm Country Park will have a skate park, basketball courts and other teenage amenity. Comment: A preference for the allotments on TM to be called Trumpington Meadows allotments and those on Clay Farm to be called Clay Farm allotments. Q: The dates for transfer and use of the allotments have consistently slipped which has caused endless frustration. What is the reason for this and when will they be ready? A: There is no definite date that can be relayed tonight, however they are within the final defect process now and everything is being done to bring them forward as soon as possible. This will be followed up with our legal team for progress checking. Comment: It would be useful for the City Council to re-engage with those on the waiting lists for the allotment to ensure that the correct provision and people are matched.

Introduction 1.1 Background Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council have prepared a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), for the site known as Land North of Cherry Hinton, with assistance from Terence O’Rourke and Snapdragon Consulting. The 47-ha site sits across the border of Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council’s (SCDC) authority areas. The site forms part of a larger allocation of land in the adopted Cambridge East Area Action Plan (2008). It is identified as a site allocation for 1,200 homes in the emerging Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire Local Plans with 780 units earmarked for Cambridge and 420 in SCDC. Landowners Marshall and The White Family agree the land is suitable for development and that proposals can be delivered while airport operations remain on the site owned by Marshall. 1.2 Purpose and scope The purpose of the SPD is to provide planning guidance to developers wishing to prepare any future planning applications for the site, as well as assisting planning authority officers in assessing future applications. The drafting of an SPD for the area presents an opportunity to ensure a masterplan is delivered for the area in a comprehensive and coordinated manner with all local stakeholders given the opportunity to be involved in the masterplanning of the site.
