6 PANAMARENKO - Prova Car 1500€

Offset lithography with collage - drawn artist proof. Framed in plexibox. Dimensions: 96 x 72 cm

Panamarenko, stage name of Henri Van Herwegen (Antwerp, 5 February 1940) is a Belgian sculptor. He is considered to be one of the most important Belgian sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. He makes many assemblies that are related to flying.

Panamarenko is a pseudonym and a contraction of "Pan American Airlines and Company".

From 1955 to 1960, Panamarenko studied at the Antwerp Academy. Before 1968 he leaned on the pop art, but he soon fell under the spell of the plane and flying on his own.

Thus, since 1970, scale models of numerous imaginary vehicles, planes, balloons or helicopters have emerged in all possible original-surprising forms. They are just as many variants of the dream of flying the mythological figure Icarus. Whether these aircraft can really fly is part of the mystery and attraction.

In the period 1969-1971 he built the zeppelin The Aeromodeller, and in 1990 the first Archeopterix (an intelligent chicken) after the model of a prehistoric bird. In 1996 he presented the submarine Pahama Novaya Zemblaya. In the meantime, he has also made his international breakthrough and has organized one-man exhibitions in London and (in 2000) and in New York (2001). In 2003 his statue Pepto Bismo was inaugurated in Antwerp on Sint-Jansplein.

Curator Jan Hoet paid special attention to this artist in the SMAK museum in Ghent. In 2002 Panamarenko opened his new studio, the Antwerpse Luchtschipbouw, in Borgerhout (Antwerp).

In 2005, at the opening of a major retrospective of his work in , Panamarenko announced that he would retire as an active artist.

Panamarenko married Eveline Hoorens in 2003, who is at the head of coffee roasting company Hoorens and moved to Sint-Maria-Oudenhove.

8 CAREL APPLE 240€

Dutch painter, sculptor, draftsman and poet, (25.4.1921 Amsterdam - 3.5.2006 Zurich, Switzerland) Appel applied at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in 1940. At the state academy he met Constant and Corneille, among others, which in 1948 would lead to the founding of the Dutch Experimental Group and shortly afterwards CoBrA.

Cobra showed a new mentality, a new method and new performances. The CoBrA group turned away from traditional painting and searched for a spontaneous, experimental and exuberant way of painting. Cobra artists do not find it important to imitate this exactly. They let motives spring from their fantasy. They left z Inspired by the art of natural peoples and the naivety of children's drawings. Human and animal motifs are characteristic of the Cobra movement. The most important members of Cobra were Karel Appel, Constant (1920), Corneille (1922), the Belgians Dotremont (1922-1979) and Alechinsky (1927) and the Dane Asger Jorn (1914-1973).

Karel Appel never paints the abstraction, even in his own words, even though his work strongly approaches it. There are always recognizable figures to discover, whether they are people, animals or suns. In addition to paintings, he makes gouaches, lithographs and brightly colored images and reliefs of wood, aluminum and polyester.

These works are framed in white baking frames to make the works stand out better.

Luc Tuymans (Mortsel, 1958) is a Belgian painter. He works in Antwerp. He is married to Carla Arocha, an artist from Venezuela.

Tuymans has a fundamental distrust of the truth value of images. He calls his paintings 'authentic forgeries' and are often derived from existing photos. Against the easy transparency of the ubiquitous, quickly recorded images in media and advertising, he places his disorienting paintings. According to Tuymans, a fully-fledged psychological portrait of an individual is impossible. That is why the framing of his portraits is often incomplete.

Luc Tuymans received an art education at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Brussels and then studied art history at the VUB from 1982 to 1986. As a starting artist he had a hard time and spent years as a porter in night clubs and discotheques. In the meantime, however, he continued to fascinate painting and experimenting with film.

His first exhibition took place in 1988 in "Ruimte Morguen", an art gallery close to the Muhka in Antwerp. In 1992 the international breakthrough followed in the Kunsthalle in Bern and with his participation in documenta IX in Kassel, with Jan Hoet as curator. His supercooled, sparsely painted canvases, often with strongly historically charged themes such as concentration camps, Belgian Congo and Flemish nationalism, brought a new sound. He proved that an old medium such as painting also remains important in the computer age.

The first exhibition in the United States took place in 1995 at "The Renaissance Society" in Chicago. In the summer of 2004, Tuymans was the first living Belgian artist to have an exhibition at the Tate Modern. In 2005, the work "Sculpture" from the series on the colonial past in Congo at an auction at Sotheby's, raised 1.1 million euros.

Graphic work drawn in print. "The Gates, Project for Central Park, New York City. Professionally framed in white baking frame for an optimal display of the artwork. Dimensions: 100 x 143 cm

On January 22, 2003, Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York, gives Christo and Jeanne-Claude permission for their project, The Gates, Project for Central Park, New York City. The Christos had to wait twenty-three years. They have been living and working in Manhattan since 1964 and have never been allowed to realize a public project in New York. The project is fully artistic and technical, but no material has been ordered in January 2003. Everything still has to be manufactured, transported, assembled, stored and finally placed. Bloomberg wants it fast because approval from a mayor of New York can be revised, anything can happen. February 2004 is not feasible, 2005 is a witch tour, but it works. February 12th if the weather permits, the 7500 cocoons will be opened and the wind will play the saffron-colored fabric panels for sixteen days. The Gates is the first project of Christo and Jeanne-Claude where the wind plays such an important role.

19 JAVACHEFF CHRISTO 360€

“Over the river / Project for Arkansas River - Cotopari, Texas Creek, Parkdale - Colorado near Salida Offset lithography drawn in pencil. Professionally framed in white baking frame for an optimal display of the artwork. Dimensions: 71 x 97 cm

The American packing artist Christo has temporarily stopped his mega project "Over the river" in Colorado in protest against President Donald Trump. "My project on the Arkansas River benefits the federal government and the federal government has a new landlord, Donald Trump, that I don't want to have anything to do with," Christo motivates his decision.

The American packing artist Christo (81) has been working on his project "Over the river" in Colorado for more than twenty years. Christo came up with the project together with his wife Jeanne-Claude, who died in 2009. Christo has already invested more than 12 million euros in the project in Colorado. The intention was to cover the Arkansas River over a stretch of almost 70 kilometers with a silver canopy. The project would become Christo's largest artwork ever in the US and cost more than 40 million euros in total.

Christo Javacheff is a world-famous visual artist. He was born in Gabrovo in Bulgaria and studied art in Sofia and Vienna. In Paris he had close ties with the nouveau realists. Christo and Jeanne-Claude have actually carried out their ideas beyond the artists who bring conceptual art where it remains a concept. Christo from the United States always worked with his wife Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon.

The artistic strategy of Christo and Jeanne-Claude was to "dress up" large, striking buildings or landscapes with fabric. The packaging of buildings or objects leads to the abstraction of these subjects. Examples of this type of work are the Pont Neuf in Paris (1985), the Reichstag in Berlin (1995). They carried out an art project in 2004 in Central Park in New York.

Ann Veronica Janssens is a sculptor of light, sound and space. Ann Veronica Janssens almost always works in a minimal way without really belonging to the minimal art. Lamdaprint - high-quality graphic printing "Chicken Project", signed and numbered on 75 copies. Dimensions: 79 x 101 cm Professionally framed in a white baking frame for an optimal display of the artwork.

Koen Vanmechelen (Sint-Truiden, 26 August 1965) is a well-known contemporary Belgian conceptual artist with an international reputation. He started his career in the early nineties and has since become one of the most productive and prominent contemporary artists in Belgium. His comprehensive and innovative work investigates the theme of bio-cultural diversity through the Gallus gallus domesticus or chicken, and its ancestor, the bankiva grouse. His best known project is The Cosmopolitan Chicken Project or CCP, an international event in which he goes looking for a hybrid or cosmopolitan chicken through the crossing of national chicken breeds. This super hybrid would eventually carry genes from all chicken breeds in the world. The 17th generation, the Styrian Malinois, was born in April 2013 in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. Together with his two other cosmopolitan projects, the CosmoGolem and The WalkingEgg, The Cosmopolitan Chicken Research Project forms the core of his work, which the artist oversees from the Open University of Diversity, [6] in the old Gelatin factory in Hasselt.

Vanmechelen's artworks investigate and honor the diversity and hybrid of life: "Every organism needs a different organism to survive". Biocultural diversity and the resulting interaction between art and science form the main theme of his oeuvre. Vanmechelen often works together with scientists and experts from various disciplines, such as Jean-Jacques Cassiman, Rik Pinxten and Marleen Temmerman. He uses innovative technology such as 3D scanning, morphometry, 3D printing and interactive visualization techniques. His work is therefore inherently cross-media and varies from very expressive paintings and drawings to photography, video, installations, glassware and even wooden sculptures. We often see the chicken and the egg as a common thread in this variety of expression ways. Over the years, they have become important symbols that allow the artist to make a connection between scientific, political, philosophical and ethical issues, and that often form the basis for debates, conversations and lectures.
