Dimensions: 96 x 72 cm Panamarenko, stage name of Henri Van Herwegen (Antwerp, 5 February 1940) is a Belgian sculptor. He is considered to be one of the most important Belgian sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. He makes many assemblies that are related to flying. Panamarenko is a pseudonym and a contraction of "Pan American Airlines and Company". From 1955 to 1960, Panamarenko studied at the Antwerp Academy. Before 1968 he leaned on the pop art, but he soon fell under the spell of the plane and flying on his own. Thus, since 1970, scale models of numerous imaginary vehicles, planes, balloons or helicopters have emerged in all possible original-surprising forms. They are just as many variants of the dream of flying the mythological figure Icarus. Whether these aircraft can really fly is part of the mystery and attraction. In the period 1969-1971 he built the zeppelin The Aeromodeller, and in 1990 the first Archeopterix (an intelligent chicken) after the model of a prehistoric bird. In 1996 he presented the submarine Pahama Novaya Zemblaya. In the meantime, he has also made his international breakthrough and has organized one-man exhibitions in London and Basel (in 2000) and in New York (2001). In 2003 his statue Pepto Bismo was inaugurated in Antwerp on Sint-Jansplein. Curator Jan Hoet paid special attention to this artist in the SMAK museum in Ghent. In 2002 Panamarenko opened his new studio, the Antwerpse Luchtschipbouw, in Borgerhout (Antwerp). In 2005, at the opening of a major retrospective of his work in Brussels, Panamarenko announced that he would retire as an active artist. Panamarenko married Eveline Hoorens in 2003, who is at the head of coffee roasting company Hoorens and moved to Sint-Maria-Oudenhove. 7 BERNAR VENET - Gribs 840€ Exceptionally beautiful Etching, aquatint and carborendum - drawn and numbered on 12 copies. Dimensions: 80 x 80 cm Dutch painter, sculptor, draftsman and poet, (25.4.1921 Amsterdam - 3.5.2006 Zurich, Switzerland) Appel applied at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in 1940. At the state academy he met Constant and Corneille, among others, which in 1948 would lead to the founding of the Dutch Experimental Group and shortly afterwards CoBrA. Cobra showed a new mentality, a new method and new performances. The CoBrA group turned away from traditional painting and searched for a spontaneous, experimental and exuberant way of painting. Cobra artists do not find it important to imitate this exactly. They let motives spring from their fantasy. They left z Inspired by the art of natural peoples and the naivety of children's drawings. Human and animal motifs are characteristic of the Cobra movement. The most important members of Cobra were Karel Appel, Constant (1920), Corneille (1922), the Belgians Dotremont (1922-1979) and Alechinsky (1927) and the Dane Asger Jorn (1914-1973). Karel Appel never paints the abstraction, even in his own words, even though his work strongly approaches it. There are always recognizable figures to discover, whether they are people, animals or suns. In addition to paintings, he makes gouaches, lithographs and brightly colored images and reliefs of wood, aluminum and polyester. 9 LUC HOENRAET 60€ Color lithography drawn and numbered 91/100. Dimensions: 79 x 65 cm (7x) These works are framed in white baking frames to make the works stand out better. Luc Tuymans (Mortsel, 1958) is a Belgian painter. He works in Antwerp. He is married to Carla Arocha, an artist from Venezuela. Tuymans has a fundamental distrust of the truth value of images. He calls his paintings 'authentic forgeries' and are often derived from existing photos. Against the easy transparency of the ubiquitous, quickly recorded images in media and advertising, he places his disorienting paintings. According to Tuymans, a fully-fledged psychological portrait of an individual is impossible. That is why the framing of his portraits is often incomplete. Luc Tuymans received an art education at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Brussels and then studied art history at the VUB from 1982 to 1986. As a starting artist he had a hard time and spent years as a porter in night clubs and discotheques. In the meantime, however, he continued to fascinate painting and experimenting with film. His first exhibition took place in 1988 in "Ruimte Morguen", an art gallery close to the Muhka in Antwerp. In 1992 the international breakthrough followed in the Kunsthalle in Bern and with his participation in documenta IX in Kassel, with Jan Hoet as curator. His supercooled, sparsely painted canvases, often with strongly historically charged themes such as concentration camps, Belgian Congo and Flemish nationalism, brought a new sound. He proved that an old medium such as painting also remains important in the computer age. The first exhibition in the United States took place in 1995 at "The Renaissance Society" in Chicago. In the summer of 2004, Tuymans was the first living Belgian artist to have an exhibition at the Tate Modern. In 2005, the work "Sculpture" from the series on the colonial past in Congo at an auction at Sotheby's, raised 1.1 million euros. 14 PIERRE ALECHINSKY - Oui, la nuit sera calme 480€ Old color lithograph from 1966, signed artist's proof on 10 copies.
