Solomon Islands Fisheries Bibliography – FAO/UNDP Regional Fishery Support Programme Page i Introduction

The information contained in this document was compiled during January and February 1987. The 439 references contained herein were located by inspection of ten libraries and collections in the South Pacific region. Computer searches covering libraries in Asia, Europe, and North America were also carried out. In addition, Solomon Islands Fisheries Department files, both open and closed, were examined at four locations in .

The basic criterion for selection of material to be included in this bibliography was usefulness to the staff of the Fisheries Department. Both published and unpublished material have therefore been included. Any ommissions or corrections should be brought to the attention of the Fisheries Department, Box G 24, Honiara, Solomon Islands.

To a large extent the encouragement of L. Clark of the Forum Fisheries Agency made this project possible. The co-operation of the Chief Fisheries Officer, D. Gibson, and his staff tremendously facilitated this work. Robert Maneira and Gideon Tiroba are to be thanked for their assistance in locating much of the material in Honiara.
