IN VIRTUE of the powers vested in me by the Defence (Military Commanders) Regulations, 1938, I, PHILIP NEAME, on whom His Majesty has conferred the Vic• toria Cross, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order, Lieutenant-General Commanding the Forces in Palestine and Trans-Jordan, with the consent of the High Commissioner, do hereby appoint BRIGADIER HORACE CLEMENT HUGH ROBERTSON, Companion of the Dis• tinguished Service Order, to be Military Commander of the Area or Place known as the Gaza District, with effect from the twenty-eighth day of August, 1940, and until further notice, vice MAJOR-GENERAL IVAN GIFFARD MACKAY, Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order, on whom his Majesty has conferred the Volunteer Decoration. ORDER MADE BY A COMPETENT AUTHORITY UNDER REGULATION 46 OF THE DEFENCE REGULATIONS, 1939. I, CHRISTOPHER WILSON BROWN, Director of Public Works, being a Competent Authority appointed by the High Commissioner for the purpose of regulation 46 of the Defence Regulations, 1939, hereby order that no person who, at the time — 1167 — — 1168 — when this Order takes effect, has in his possession or under his control at any pre• mises in Palestine any of the articles or materials set forth in the Schedule to this Order shall sell or otherwise dispose of the ownership in or remove such articles or materials or cause or permit them to be removed from the said premises until the sale or disposal or removal of such articles or materials is authorised by me. And I do further hereby order that any person who, at the time when this Order comes into effect, has in his possession or under his control at any premises in Palestine any of the articles or materials set forth in the Schedule to this Order shall, within five days from the time when this Order comes into effect, send to me at the Public Works Department Headquarters, P.O.B. 585, Jerusalem, a written declaration stating the number or quantity of such articles or materials aforesaid which are in his possession or under his control. IN VIRTUE of the powers vested in me by regulation 10 of the Emergency Regu• lations, 1936, I, LIEUT.-COL. C.H. GAISFORD ST. LAWRENCE, Military Commander of the Lydda District, hereby declare that all persons within the Local Council area of Herzliya shall remain within doors between the hours 9 a.m. on the 18th August, 1940, and 6 a.m. on the 19th August, 1940. And I hereby give notice that any person found in the said area without a permit from me, or some other duly authorised person, will render himself liable for an offence under the above-mentioned regulations. IT IS HEREBY NOTIFIED that, in exercise of the powers vested in him by Article 10(1) of the Palestinian Citizenship Order, 1925, and with the approval of the Sec• retary of State, the High Commissioner has revoked, with effect from the twenty- eighth day of August, 1940, the certificate of naturalization granted to MR. JACOB YUDKEVITCH, on the ground that he has been for a period of not less than three years since its grant ordinarily resident out of Palestine. AND IT IS FURTHER NOTIFIED that, in exercise of the powers vested in him by Article 11(1) of the said Order, the High Commissioner has ordered that FRIDA YUDKEVITCH, née WEIGENBAUM, wife of the said JACOB YUDKEVITCH, and their minor son CHAIM, shall cease to be Palestinian citizens from the twenty-eighth day of August, 1940, subject to FRIDA YUDKEVITCH, née WEIGENBAUM, not being a Pales• tinian citizen under Article 1 or Article 6 of the Palestinian Citizenship Orders, ' 1925-1931. TANA VINOKUR, maiden name GINC- BURGS, while in a foreign state and not under disability has by a voluntary and formal act acquired Latvian nationality, the said MRS. TANA VINOKUR ceased as from the date of such naturalization to be a Palestinian citizen in accordance with Article 15 of the Palestinian Citizenship Order, 1925. E. IT IS HEREBY NOTIFIED that, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 2 of the Land (Expropriation) Ordinance, the High Commissioner has certified that the expropriation of a plot of land adjoining property of the Palestine Railways at Lydda Station and abutting on the east to a Cold Storage Installation belonging to MESSRS. SPINNEY'S LIMITED, for the erection of an extension of the said Cold — 1170 — Storage Installation of Spinney's Limited is an undertaking of a public nature within the meaning of section 2 of the Land (Expropriation) Ordinance. A plan showing the site to be expropriated for this purpose may be inspected at the office of the District Officer, Ramleh, or at the office of MESSRS.
