1 GENESIS ANNOUNCES MULTIYEAR SPONSORSHIP WITH WORLD-CLASS TENNIS PLAYER HYEON CHUNG SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA., April 11, 2018 – Today, Genesis announced a five-year partnership agreement with world-class tennis player Hyeon Chung, who will become the brand’s first tennis ambassador. This announcement expands the reach of Genesis beyond football and golf into the international tennis arena. A ceremony marking the occasion was held yesterday at Genesis Gangnam, the brand’s first standalone showroom designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture. “As a global luxury brand, we are extremely proud to partner with Hyeon Chung as an ambassador of Genesis and embark together on a journey filled with open possibilities,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, Global Head of the Genesis Brand. “His unyielding level of passion, competitive spirit, and respect for his profession and competitors are traits that Genesis shares.” Chung, currently ranked 19th in the ATPi rankings, is the highest ranked South Korean tennis player in history. He recently reached the Grand Slam semi-finals at the 2018 Australian Open and quarter-finals at the 2018 Miami Open, after turning pro in 2014. “Ever since I was young, I always dreamed of playing tennis on a global stage while representing my Korean roots,” Chung said. “To be a part of an exciting Korean brand like Genesis allows me to do just that.” Through 2022, the Genesis logo will be displayed on Chung’s athletic apparel, and 2 the brand will provide Chung with a Genesis vehicle for transportation. I asked him to write a piece about the prospects, written just before the recent ATP Finals when Mike Venus had qualified for the doubles with Ryan Harrison. Since then Michael and Ryan have surprised many. They were seeded 8th, but reached the semi-finals, winning all 3 of their group matches before bowing out to the top seeds. A great effort, not to mention how handy the US$200.000 they share will be. They also won 600 ranking points each to assist them being seeded in tournaments next year. The overall winners were Henri Kontinen & John Peers. To show how close the men’s doubles teams are, Michael and Ryan beat them in the round robin section 6-4 7-6.

However, today, sport has an essential role as a diplomacy tool in the realization of peace and conflict resolution in various countries. The primary objective of this chapter is to prove that sports diplomacy has positive and effective impacts on the relations between South Korea and North Korea. This chapter will also analyze the prospects for reunification on the Korean Peninsula after several sport diplomacy exchanges in both countries. A. Sports Diplomacy Efforts and Its Impact on South Korea and North Korea Relations April 27th, 2018 is a historic day and welcomed by North Korea, South Korea, and the international community.
