• Alitalia European Cup

• Scotland’s dream of playing Australia and New Zealand in the 2011 4 Nations were dashed after a strong start in the Alitalia European Cup only to be defeated by France in Perpignan and Wales in Glasgow.

PERFORMANCE Amateur 4 Nations

Scotland A had the tough challenge of defending the Four Nations title after their grand slam victory in 2010. Early defeats to England and Wales saw Scotland staring at a wooden spoon position however a convincing performance against Ireland at Scotsoun Stadium in the final game of the Tournament saw the A team come second in the tournament on points difference.

Scotland Under 18’s made history with their first ever win against England Colleges. The squad which was made up of ‘Residents’ ,Scots living and playing Rugby League in Scotland, managed to draw the Auld Enemy Cup against the English Colleges after winning the second game by a penalty kick at Scotstoun Stadium having lost the first game at Whitehaven.

Auld Enemy Cup England Colleges 42 V 14 Scotland Under 18’s Auld Enemy Cup Scotland Under 18’s 14 V 12 England Colleges PERFORMANCE Under 16 Germany 2011 Scotland Under 16 travelled to Germany to compete in a European Federation Development Tournament hosted by the Germany Rugby League Federation. The competing Nations were Germany, Russia, Serbia and Scotland. Scotland played Germany and then Russia in the final, the last time Scotland played Russia at this age group was in the 2005 Youth World Cup in Russia where Scotland suffered a 44 – 4 heavy defeat at the hands of a very physical Russian side.

Scotland Rugby League’s Player Development Centre was launched in October 2010, two squads, Under 15 and Under 16 were assembled following trials which saw players from all over Scotland attend.

20 Under 15 players and 20 Under 16 Players attended the entire programme

PERFORMANCE Student 4 Nations Scotland Rugby League hosted the 2011 Student Four Nations at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow from 18th to the 22nd April 2011. Scotland started strongly defeating Ireland in their opening game however Wales and england proved to strong.

Two Scottish Students, Crawford Matthews and Jordan Rice were selected for the Great Britain Students as a result of their efforts in the Championship

Edinburgh Eagles went on to the National RLC Play offs to become the first Scottish team to reach the RLC National Semi Finals:

National Semi Finals- Premier Edinburgh Eagles 22 V 24 Parkside Hawks National Youth League For the first time in it’s history Scotland ran a National Youth League which culminated in a Grand Final at Scotstoun Stadium.
