Overall, 2014 was a very good and safe year here in Shakopee. We saw another record-low crime rate. I encourage you to check out our 2014 Annual Report, which is available online at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/ police. Our commitment to increasing partnerships and improving our service delivery remains a major focus in 2015. Looking ahead, we anticipate a busy spring and summer with some exciting upcoming programs. Over the past few weeks, the Shakopee Fire Department, as well as several other area departments, have been conducting live training burns on vacant houses near Rahr Malting in west Shakopee. Rahr Malting donated the houses, located north of County Road 69, to make room for future development. Assistant Fire Chief Dave Judd said the generous donation provides the Department with a unique opportunity to conduct level 2 and level 3 fire training. The park features a support building with a concessions stand, family changing rooms, picnic area, and locker rooms.

This unique water park features a sand bottom chlorinated pool that is surrounded by a sand beach and a sand play area. It also features a 300-foot waterslide, two 12-foot drop slides and a diving board. The height requirement to use the slides is 48 inches. For exclusive use of a facility for a given date and time, a shelter reservation is required and can be made by contacting the Parks and Recreation Office at least seven days in advance of the proposed date(s) of usage. Reservations will be accepted on a first come first serve basis at the Parks and Recreation Office. Rental fees must be paid with the reservation form. Reservations can be made between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Picnic Reservation forms can be printed from the City’s website at www.ShakopeeMN.gov. Quarry Lake Park The City’s most unique park yet! Quarry Lake Park is a 111- acre park that includes a 69-acre lake.
