Co-Founder and President of the Board of Directors of Hecho en Encinal, a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to bring arts and humanities programming to rural communities in a five county region of South Texas. Janet participated in workshops, programming for students in grades K through 12, and presentations to the community of Encinal in the form of celebrations, educational and cultural festivities. Hecho en Encinal received grants from the Laredo Area Foundation, the Texas Commission on the Arts, Humanities Texas, and the National Endowment for the Arts until its demise in ! 2012.! Through Hecho en Encinal, Janet initiated a collaborative relationship with the Alexander Memorial Library in Cotulla, TX for the establishment of a branch library in Encinal. Janet currently serves on the board of the Alexander Memorial !library and acts as liason to the Encinal Branch.!
