Ossolińskich i jego zbiory w latach 1817‒1939 Abstrakt: Celem prezentowanego artykułu jest ukazanie dziejów i zbiorów Zakładu Narodowego im. Ossolińskich w latach 1817‒1939. Za pomocą analizy zachowanych dokumentów oraz istniejącej literatury przedmiotu starano się nie tylko ukazać hi- storię instytucji, wybrane kolekcje z zasobów biblioteki, ale także przedstawić jej organizację oraz ludzi, którzy na przestrzeni przeszło 120 lat przewinęli się przez jej mury. Jest to tym ważniejsze, że w przeciwieństwie do wielu innych polskich bibliotek nigdy nie napisano całościowej historii Ossolineum. Przyczyną tej sytuacji było to, że po 1945 r. niemal wszystkie archiwalia mogące służyć poznaniu dziejów Zakładu pozostały we Lwowie, zaś dostęp do nich był dla polskich badaczy bar- dzo utrudniony, a czasami nawet wręcz niemożliwy. Sytuacja ta zaczęła się powoli zmieniać po 1989 r. Wtedy też powstały mniejsze lub większe prace przyczynkarskie dotyczące dziejów Ossolineum. Dopiero od niedawna na rynku księgarskim zaczęły się pojawiać szersze publikacje ukazujące różne aspekty funkcjonowania Zakładu Narodowego im. Ossolińskich. Zgodnie z zamierzeniami fundatora instytucja ta zło- żona z biblioteki, wydawnictwa oraz muzeum miała nie tylko gromadzić różnego rodzaju druki, rękopisy, dzieła sztuki, ale także udostępniać swoje zbiory wszystkim zainteresowanym. Modes of Reading Texts, Objects, and Images: Late Poetry of Tadeusz Różewicz by Olga Ponichtera A thesis submitted in conformity with the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures University of Toronto © Copyright by Olga Ponichtera 2015 Modes of Reading Texts, Objects, and Images: Late Poetry of Tadeusz Różewicz Olga Ponichtera Doctor of Philosophy Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures University of Toronto 2015 Abstract This dissertation explores the late oeuvre of Tadeusz Różewicz (1921-2014), a world- renowned Polish poet, dramatist, and prose writer. It focuses primarily on three poetic and multi-genre volumes published after the political turn of 1989, namely: Mother Departs (Matka Odchodzi) (1999), professor’s knife (nożyk profesora) (2001), and Buy a Pig in a Poke: work in progress (Kup kota w worku: work in progress) (2008). The abovementioned works are chosen as exemplars of the writer’s authorial strategies / modes of reading praxis, prescribed by Różewicz for his ideal audience. These strategies simultaneously reveal the poet himself as a reader (of his own texts and the works of other authors). This study defines an author’s late style as a response to the cognitive and aesthetic evaluation of one’s life’s work, artistic legacy, and metaphysical angst of mortality. Różewicz’s late works are characterized by a tension between recognition and reconciliation to closure, and difficulty with it and/or opposition to it. Authorial construction of lyrical subjectivity as a reader, and modes of textual construction are the central questions under analysis. This study examines both, Tadeusz Różewicz as a reader, and the authorial strategies/ modes he creates to guide the reading praxis of the authorial audience.

St. John's Cathedral Wrocław
St. John’s Cathedral Wrocław The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Wrocław, (Polish: Archikatedra św. Jana Chrzciciela, German: Breslauer Dom, Kathedrale St. Johannes des Täufers), is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Wrocław and a landmark of the city of Wrocław in Poland. The cathedral, located in the Ostrów Tumski district, is a Gothic church with Neo-Gothic additions. The current standing cathedral is the fourth church to have been built on the site. The cathedral was almost entirely destroyed (about 70% of the construction) during the Siege of Breslau and heavy bombing by the Red Army in the last days of World War II. Parts of the interior fittings were saved and are now on display at the National Museum in Warsaw. The initial reconstruction of the church lasted until 1951, when it was reconsecrated by Archbishop Stefan Wyszyński. In the following years, additional aspects were rebuilt and renovated. The original, conical shape of the towers was restored only in 1991. Wroclaw Town Hall The Old Town Hall (Polish: Stary Ratusz) of Wroclaw stands at the center of the city’s Market Square (rynek). Wroclaw is the largest city in western Poland and isthe site of many beautiful buildings. The Old Town Hall's long history reflects the developments that have taken place in the city over time since its initial construction. The town hall serves the city of Wroclaw and is used for civic and cultural events such as concerts held in its Great Hall. In addition to a concert hall, it houses a museum and a basement restaurant.

Rediscovering the Remnants of the Numismatic Collection of the Schlesisches Museum Für Kunstgewerbe Und Altertümer, Wrocław (Formerly Breslau)1

LII, 2008, z. 2 (186) Polish Numismatic News VIII, 2009 ADAM DEGLER REDISCOVERING THE REMNANTS OF THE NUMISMATIC COLLECTION OF THE SCHLESISCHES MUSEUM FÜR KUNSTGEWERBE UND ALTERTÜMER, WROCŁAW (FORMERLY BRESLAU)1 The numismatic collection of the former Schlesisches Museum für Kunstgewerbe und Altertümer of Breslau, now, Wrocław (Silesian Museum of Arts, Crafts and Antiquities), encompassed no less than several hundred ancient coins and a splendid array of several thousand Silesian coins and medals. This was the most valuable public collection of its kind in Silesia before the war, so comprehensive that its catalogues, published in the early twentieth century (F riedensburg, Seger 1901; F riedensburg 1931), are still considered a valuable supple- mentary source for coin specialists. The collection has been described as ‘the most comprehensive collection ever of Silesian coins and medals, including Legnica- Brzeg issues’ (P i e ń kowski 2001, p. 165). In 1944, faced with defeat on the eastern front and rightly concerned that Breslau might be threatened by war operations, the Germans decided to evacuate the collection. After the end of the war the collection was never fully recovered and its fate remains mostly unknown. Today, the main successor of the Schlesisches Museum für Kunstgewerbe und Altertümer is the Muzeum Narodowe in Wrocław (National Museum, Wrocław). Objects from the pre-war museum holdings form the core of several of its col- lections, e.g., the Arts and Crafts and Silesian Medieval Art collections, and its rich sigillography section (see recently, H ermansdorfer 2007). But except for a relatively small number of items, mentioned below, the Museum does not have in its keeping coins or medals from the pre-war German collections.

This eminent pathologist histochemically visualized tissue distribution of gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase in liver and other organs under various conditions. He was also deeply involved in experimental pathology of liver, particularly in his comprehensive studies on chrysoidin-induced hepatoma that should bear eponymic name Albert’s hepatoma. As he had both German and Polish roots, he became an eminent personage that wisely and consequently bridged neighboring civilizations in hard terms of escalation of hate in prewar times, during World War II and in postwar period. After he meticulously recorded Nazi crimes in Lvov, he appealed for justice in case of Nazi massive murders of Lvov Professors. He obtained his Associate Professorship in Anatomical Pathology in Lvov (Lemberg) and was one of rebuilders of Medical Faculty in postwar Wrocław (Breslau) to serve as the first Rector Magnificus of Medical Academy of Wrocław.

Nr 50 poz. 529 z dnia 22 maja 2001) WSTĘP Zakład Narodowy im. Ossolińskich w 2015 r. niezmiennie wypełniał funkcje biblioteczne, gromadząc, opracowując i udostępniając zbiory czytelnikom. Jednocześnie realizowano zaplanowane w latach poprzednich poszerzenie działalności Ossolineum o nowe obszary. W roku 2015 podjęte zostały ponadto przygotowania do zbliżającego się jubileuszu 200-lecia ZNiO. Będą one kontynuowane w 2016 r., zaś ich zwieńczenie nastąpi w 2017 r. Rok 2015 był okresem intensywnej pracy nad stworzeniem Muzeum Pana Tadeusza, którego otwarcie nastąpi w kwietniu 2016 r. Rozpoczęcie jego działalności będzie zwieńczeniem wieloletniego wysiłku organizacyjnego i finansowego, jakiego podjął się Zakład w celu znaczącego wzbogacenia oferty edukacyjnej dla społeczeństwa. Dzięki muzeum Ossolineum poważnie zwiększy swoją obecność w przestrzeni kulturalnej Wrocławia. Realnych kształtów zaczął nabierać zamysł budowy siedziby Muzeum Książąt Lubomirskich. Jego usytuowanie w strukturach ZNiO nawiązuje do historycznych podstaw funkcjonowania Ossolineum. Ważnym krokiem w tej sprawie było powołanie w 2015 r. zespołu ds. opracowania założeń do projektu pn. „Budowa Muzeum Książąt Lubomirskich we Wrocławiu”. Przewiduje się zrealizowanie budowy w ramach partnerstwa publiczno-prywatnego. Istotne zmiany zaszły na polu wydawniczym. Wydawaniem publikacji wewnątrz Zakładu zajmował się dotychczas Dział Wydawniczy. Jesienią 2015 r. został on przekształcony w Wydawnictwo Ossolineum, którego zadania obejmują całość działalności wydawniczej prowadzonej dotychczas przez Zakład oraz likwidowaną spółkę ZNiO-Wydawnictwo we Wrocławiu Sp. z o.o. Wydawnictwo kontynuuje i rozwija dotychczasowy dorobek, publikując m.in. kolejne tomy serii „Biblioteka Narodowa” i przygotowując na 2016 r.
