Danish Film Institute The Danish Film Institute (DFI) supports the development, production and distribution of Danish films and offers funding for international co-productions. Support programmes extend to digital games, film education and promotion at international film festivals. A minimum of 25 percent of all subsidies are earmarked for children and youth films. Situated in central Copenhagen, the DFI houses the national Cinematheque and also includes a library, a stills and posters archive and a film studio where children and young people can explore the craft of filmmaking. The DFI manages the film archives and runs a streaming website for Danish short and documentary films at filmcentralen.dk.     Press release 8.1.2019 ROBERT NOMINATIONS 2019 CELEBRATING A THRILLING YEAR IN DANISH FILM AND TV! The Danish Film Academy has announced the nominations for this year’s ROBERT awards. The country’s most coveted award will celebrate the diverse and consistently high quality of Danish film and tv output, and see newcomers go head to head with veterans in the major categories. The Academy presents the 35th ROBERT awards on Sunday February 3rd, 2019 with entertainer Jan Gintberg as show host. A total of 27 feature films were in the running for the many ROBERT statuettes. A testimony of a strong film-year, but this year the tv-categories saw even fiercer competition as both ‘best tv-series’ and ‘best short tv-series’ had twice as many potential nominees. Three very different veterans of Danish cinema scooped the most nominations, including Best Film and Best Director, led by Bille August’s ‘A Fortunate Man’ on top with 16, Lars von Trier’s ‘The House That Jack Built’ with 12 and Christoffer Boe’s ‘The Purity of Vengeance’ with 11 alongside newcomers Niclas Bendixen’s ‘Ditte & Louise’ with 11 and Gustav Möller’s ‘The Guilty’ with 9 nominations. Another first effort, ‘Holiday’, secured Isabella Eklöf a nomination as Best Director as well as one for Best Screenplay in collaboration with Johanne Algren, which gives the film a total of 7 nominations. The booming Danish tv-production output is also honoured at the ROBERT awards and the competition is close this year with DR Drama’s ‘Liberty’ and ‘Ride Upon the Storm II’ facing off with Miso Film’s ‘Warrior’ and ‘The Rain’ as well as Nimbus Film & Filmlance’s ‘The Bridge IIII’.
