Cinema and comic books have been falling over themselves to entertain us for decades with tales of mutants, the super powered, and good versus evil tales, and it's made a lot of money. So, why shouldn't the kids of South Park get a bit of that action? It would be rude not to, right? So that's exactly what they did. 2014 saw the kids of South Park going out on their first adventure, The Stick of Truth. A fantasy inspired, turn based RPG that gave us all the fun of the genre, with all the inappropriateness and toilet humour familiar with the South Park brand. And that's where Fractured But Whole picks up, right in the middle of one of those battles. Okay, so technically it picks up with you character “The New Kid” sat on the toilet, charging you with the task of completing a poop related minigame, but that sets you up for the tone of the game straight from the start. It all turns to superheroes, and the quest to find a missing cat called Scrambles in order to claim a $100 reward and kickstart Cartman's “Coon and Friends” superhero franchise, before Timmy's Freedom Pals do, because heroes are profitable and Cartman (rather sensibly) wants to be rich. Without giving away any spoilers, the story is a rollercoaster ride of hilarity, complete with all manner of Easter eggs and references to the long running series that never feels like an “in joke” for those who watch the show and remain amusing regardless of that. But expect twists, turns, topical and pop culture references, and a story that will leave you wondering how they got away with it frequently. And it looks the part in every way possible. It's a generously sized game that feels like a 20 hour episode, or a whole series that you can play with and enjoy your way. all the inappropriateness and toilet humour familiar with the South Park brand. And that's where Fractured But Whole picks up, right in the middle of one of those battles. As for gameplay, there's a lot to like. A lot more than you'd expect. There are mini games galore, mostly toilet humour, a lot of farting, and even incredibly controversial scenes involving priests and kids in strip bars. Definitely not suitable for a young audience, but much like the show, the game does open with a “Should not be played by anyone” message. Combat in the game has had a huge overhaul from the original, there are AOE considerations, tactical placement, and different classes to play with, that all mimic traditional RPGs, but with humour, satire, and as I mentioned earlier, farting. A lot of farting. In fact, farting makes up a whole lot of the game, with various anal announcements that can affect the tide of battle, be used to solve puzzles, even turn night into day. Enemies in the game range from various figures from the show, to ninjas, crab people, other kids, even the woodland critters, and Santa make an appearance. I really shouldn't say much more than that, because spoilers are bad mmkay. Yes, he's in it too. Combat in the game feels fresh with easily customisable teams, and powers. You can alter your appearance, and also equip items to improve your powers and strength throughout the game. This is definitely a game that can't really be reviewed in depth without giving away spoilers, but it does poke a lot of fun at the world we live in today, with very near the knuckle jokes, that will upset the easily offended. So, it's probably best not to play it while the local vicar is in the room. If you like South Park you'll love this, if you enjoy JRPGs, it'll come as a nice surprise. Definitely worth playing. That night at the dinner table Kyle asks his parents where leprechauns come from and why one would visit South Park to warn of a terrorist attack. They chide him for not knowing the difference between real and imaginary and he mutters, “I thought I did.” What ensues is pure South Park genius as we discover that, in fact, nobody seems to know what the difference is. As the story unfolds it’s obvious that no one will be safe, as the episode lampoons the U.S. “war on terror,” the American legal system, Hollywood directors, the media, Christianity, the military, Kurt Russell, and Al Gore’s campaign against climate change [ManBearPig is real… I’m super cereal!] all the while reminding us that imagination is an essential feature of human life.

Shit happens – to emphasise both the banality and perva- siveness of the cliché itself – on multiple levels of textuality, manifesting it- self in both the content and aesthetic of cinematic texts, and the ways we respond to them. We often refer to “shit films,” using an excremental vo- cabulary redolent of detritus, malaise and uncleanliness to denote their otherness and “badness”. That is, films of questionable taste, aesthetics, or value, are frequently delineated and defined by the defecatory: we describe them as “trash”, “crap”, “filth”, “sewerage”, “shithouse”. When considering cinematic purviews such as the b-film, exploitation, and shock or trash filmmaking, whose narratives are so often played out on the site of the gro- tesque body, a screenscape spectacularly splattered with bodily excess and waste is de rigeur.     Colloquy Vol. 12, Fall 2016, pp. 101-114 PC Is Back in South Park: Framing Social Issues through Satire Alex Dejean Abstract This study takes an extensive look at the television program South Park episode “Stunning and Brave.” There is limited research that explores the use of satire to create social discourse on concepts related to political correctness. I use framing theory as a primary variable to understand the messages “Stunning and Brave” attempts to convey. Framing theory originated from the theory of agenda setting. Agenda setting explains how media depictions affect how people think about the world. Framing is an aspect of agenda setting that details the organization and structure of a narrative or story. Framing is such an important variable to agenda setting that research on framing has become its own field of study. Existing literature of framing theory, comedy, and television has shown how audiences perceive issues once they have been exposed to media messages. The purpose of this research will review relevant literature explored in this area to examine satirical criticism on the social issue of political correctness. It seems almost unnecessary to point out the effect media has on us every day. Media is a broad term for the collective entities and structures through which messages are created and transmitted to an audience. As noted by Semmel (1983), “Almost everyone agrees that the mass media shape the world around us” (p. 718). The media tells us what life is or what we need for a better life. We have been bombarded with messages about what is better.

Standard of Review - Anders v. California, 386 U.S. 738, 87 S.Ct. 1396, 18 L.Ed.2d 493 (1967). {¶2} Hurst’s appellate counsel has filed a brief pursuant to Anders v. California, 386 U.S. 738, 87 S.Ct. 1396, 18 L.Ed.2d 493 (1967). We informed Hurst that his attorney had filed an Anders brief on his behalf and granted him until August 21, 2020 to file a pro se brief. Hurst has not filed a pro se brief. {¶3} In Anders, the United States Supreme Court held if, after a conscientious examination of the record, a defendant's counsel concludes the case is wholly frivolous, then he should so advise the court and request permission to withdraw.
