In May 2004, there was a similar incident with green seaweed suddenly appearing. On that occasion, the experts declared the sea- weed harmless. Indeed, one could even suggested a seaweed eating festival. The most recent seaweed incident is rather less pleasant than the last one. The reek from the rotting seaweed is unlikely to compel anyone that they should scoop it up and serve it in restaurants. What a sad indictment this is of the authorities in Patong.
