Headline can be Armedon three Forces lines Bill 2021 Title Summary Sub-title or short context to document Armed Forces Bill 2021 – Summary Background Since the Bill of Rights 1688, the legislation making the provision necessary for the Armed Forces to exist as a disciplined force has been subject to regular renewal by an Act of Parliament. The next renewal is needed by the end of 2021. The primary purpose of these Acts is to provide for the continuation for a further period of up to five years of the legislation enabling the Armed Forces to be recruited and maintained as disciplined bodies; that legislation is the Armed Forces Act 2006.The 2006 Act introduced a single system of law and the Service Justice System that applies to all Service personnel wherever in the world they are operating. The 2006 Act was implemented in 2009, replacing three separate Service Discipline Acts that dated back to the 1950s. The 2006 Act continues to serve our Armed Forces well and subsequent Armed Forces Acts have brought the 2006 Act up to date for the contemporary needs of the Services. In 2017, in preparation for this Bill, MOD commissioned an independent review of the Service Justice System (SJS) to ensure that it continues to be transparent, fair and efficient. The review made 79 recommendations for improvement and the Bill includes provision to implement a few of these which require primary legislation. In common with other five-yearly Bills, this one contains a small number of proposals which fall outside the ambit of Service discipline. -

Eisteddfod Branding
The National Eisteddfod The National Eisteddfod is Wales’ largest festival, held alternately in north and south Wales, celebrating the Welsh language and culture of Wales. Its history can be traced back to the court of the Lord Rhys in 1176, with the modern day Eisteddfod held every year bar one since 1861. The festival has evolved and developed greatly over the past ten years, with over 1,000 events held across the Maes (site) during the eight-day festival. The Eisteddfod also plays host to over 200 competitions, with many of these held in the main Pavilion during the week. The other events are held across the Maes, some in semi- permanent buildings and others in attractive tents and yurts, such as Tŷ Gwerin and Caffi Maes B. We know the Eisteddfod and the community project are unique. Our brand needs to celebrate and embrace this uniqueness. Information on the festival and all events can be found online, www.eisteddfod.wales The project The Eisteddfod is looking to rebrand the festival and the organisation over the next year. The Eisteddfod festival is an iconic brand, the word itself is known across the world, and our brand needs to reflect this, with the word playing a central part in any graphic. Typography is very important to us. With so many events and activities held during the week and the community project, the typography must be strong and instantly recognisable – emphasising the uniqueness of the festival and the project and its central place in the culture of Wales. The successful agency will need to deliver a brand which overcomes a number of challenges. -

Each of these entities includes very different territories, with different legal statuses and varying forms of self-administration and constitutional linkages with the UK. However, they also share similarities and challenges that enable an analysis of these territories as a complete set. The incomplete sovereignty of the Crown Dependencies and BOTs has entailed that all these territories (except Gibraltar) have not been allowed to participate in the 2016 Brexit referendum or in the withdrawal negotiations with the EU. Moreover, it is reasonable to assume that Brexit is not an exceptional situation. In the future there will be more and more relevant international issues for these territories which will remain outside of their direct control, but will have a direct impact on them. Thus, if no adjustments are made to their statuses, these territories will have to keep trusting that the UK will be able to represent their interests at the same level as its own interests. The proposed Law also establishes appropriate powers for the Jersey police and courts in relation to deserters and others, creates civilian offences in relation to the armed forces, protects the pay and equipment of the armed forces from action in Jersey courts, and enables the States Assembly by Regulations to amend legislation to provide for the use of vehicles and roads by the armed forces. Background The United Kingdom Visiting Forces Act 1952 was introduced in order to make provision with respect to naval, military and air forces of other countries visiting the United Kingdom, and to provide for the apprehension and disposal of deserters or absentees without leave in the United Kingdom from the forces of such countries. -

Gwyn Bevan, Marina Karanikolos, Jo Exley, Ellen Nolte, Sheelah Connolly and Nicholas Mays Source report April 2014 About this research This report is the fourth in a series dating back to 1999 which looks at how the publicly financed health care systems in the four countries of the UK have fared before and after devolution. The report was commissioned jointly by The Health Foundation and the Nuffield Trust. The research team was led by Nicholas Mays at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The research looks at how the four national health systems compare and how they have performed in terms of quality and productivity before and after devolution. The research also examines performance in North East England, which is acknowledged to be the region that is most comparable to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland in terms of socioeconomic and other indicators. This report, along with an accompanying summary report, data appendices, digital outputs and a short report on the history of devolution (to be published later in 2014), are available to download free of charge at www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk/compare-uk-health www.health.org.uk/compareUKhealth. The first statement of which I have notice is a statement to be made by the Chief Minister regarding a meeting with Her Majesty’s Treasury on 27th November. 6. Statement by Chief Minister regarding a meeting with H.M. Treasury on 27th November 2008. 6.1 Senator F.H. Walker (The Chief Minister): Members will be aware that in his pre-budget report delivered last week the U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a review of the long term opportunities and challenges facing the Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories as financial centres which have been brought into focus by recent financial and economic events. We in Jersey have, of course, been here before with the Edwards Review in 1998. However, to some extent this time it is different. We are now experienced in the review process. We have already been fully reviewed by the I.M.F. in 2003 and at that time were found to be almost fully compliant with the then international standards of regulation. More recently we have engaged with a review of the Treasury Select Committee in their work on offshore centres. Even more recently we have just concluded a further review by I.M.F. teams looking into our compliance firstly with international standards of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism; and secondly with prudential regulation under an I.M.F. review which includes matters of financial stability. We await their reports in due course. -

E IT ENACTED by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present BParliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1 Duties of the Secretary of State (1) The Secretary of State must take steps to secure Tax Information Exchange Agreements, if such Agreements have not already been made, with governments of— (a) all British Overseas Territories; and 5 (b) all British Crown Dependencies. (2) The Secretary of State must, within 6 months of the passing of this Act and every 12 months after that, lay a report before both Houses of Parliament setting out— (a) the steps taken under subsection (1); 10 (b) the progress made in securing Agreements; (c) the prospects for further progress during the following year. (3) In this section— “British Overseas Territories” has the same meaning as in the British Overseas Territories Act 2002; and 15 “British Crown Dependencies” means Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. 2 Duties of financial institutions (1) Any financial institution operating in the United Kingdom must report any breach of the obligations arising from a Tax Information Exchange Agreement 20 to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. -
