A BRIGHT SEASON OF SWIMMING AHEAD The entrance to the Jamestown Swimming Pool is undergoing some changes – a colourful mural was completed at the end of May by artist Marciano Arentez. The captivating mural adorns the once drab brown besser block walls that provided no indication of the beautiful facility behind it.

Local artist and resident Helen Pammenter generously donated proceeds from her 90th Birthday Art Exhibition to the Pool Management Committee, who thought it would be fitting to put it towards a mural to brighten up the walls at the entrance.

Many hands and much time went into making it all happen – from Helen’s donation to labour contributions from Brenton Arnold, Leesong Electrical, Wayne McLean Plumbing and Chris Benton.

The Jamestown Swimming Pool is open from November to March and invites everyone to come and enjoy the wonderful facility behind these now beautiful walls.

Page 2 - June 2019 “TACKO” 30 YEARS YOUNG There are a few people in Jamestown who will remember a band from the 70’s named Tacko. To the delight and to a degree of astonishment from us (the four members of Tacko) - you remember us fondly. When Pam started she was 13 years old - and Robert was the oldest at 16 and the only one with a drivers license. But Robert decided to relentlessly pursue a professional manager role, and through him we were in great demand. We played for Hunt Club Balls in Kadina, Rough and Ready Cabarets in Quorn, School Socials, Nurses Balls and regularly at the famous Riverton Dances. We played at Kaiser Stuhl Winery at Nuriootpa when they launched their “Cold Duck”. We played at Port Wakefield Army and Police Social Clubs, Wedding Receptions, you name it - we did it. The four of us had not been in the same room for over 30 years until the sad passing of our beloved Pat Graham. So when the youngest Pam was turning 60, we thought we best get together before time beats us. Robert and Pam bashed out a few tunes with the help of Mark Fudge - and then later in the evening... the awesome foursome belted out a few questionable songs in Pam’s new bar room, and we are pleased left to right - Greg (Lofty) Boston, Robert Graham, Peter (Cactus) Graham and Pam with guitar. to report that we think we sounded as good as we could have...? We thoroughly enjoyed and evening strolling down memory lane and laughing about the good times we all shared. Pam would like to thank all whom attended for making it a special, memorable and fantastic afternoon/evening.
