He was just back from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. It had been his third tour overseas and his last. His enlistment was up and he was leaving the army. This caused him some worries. He had been in the military for so long that he did not know how he would adapt to civilian life, or the life that he would lead with a regular day job. Ray watched as several of his military brothers and sisters scanned the crowd to find their loved ones. Ray did not expect to see anyone he knew in the crowd. He hadn’t told his parents the day that he would be back. He would go and see them in a day or two once he had had time to come up with some answers, which his dad would be certain to ask him.

  • 2005 Johnson-Scott Declaration
DECLARATION of FACTS - John D. Johnson http://www.arfusa.com/declaration_scott_and_johnson.htm DECLARATION of FACTS I, John D. Johnson, being of lawful age, do make the following Declaration of Facts: 1. My current residence is as follows: 140 Hinton Street Summerville , Georgia 30747 2. By the sustaining power of our Lord Jesus Christ, and, with His help, I declare, that I, John D. Johnson, along with my beloved wife, Mildred Johnson, have dedicated our lives to the preservation of the American Bulldog, from becoming an extinct breed; the focus of our work began over 3 decades ago. Originally, my dogs were registered with the National Kennel Club [NKC], as “American [Pit] Bulldogs”. However, I became dissatisfied with the work of NKC’s former 1964 Founder and Administrator, Mr. M. E. Hopper, and the confusion of the “American [Pit] Bulldog” name. I therefore contacted Mr. Tom D. Stodghill, the 1947 Founder of the Animal Research Foundation [ARF], in Quinlan , Texas , in regards to registering my rare breed of old-time bulldogs with the ARF. I explained to Mr. Stodghill, that the term “Pit” in the breed’s name caused much confusion with some people, as they thought my rare breed of old-time bulldog was a type of an “American Pit Bull Terrier”, which they are not! My dogs are much larger and heavier than a “Terrier-type” dog, and their temperament is entirely different, being very social with both adults and children. It was at that time, I suggested to Mr. Stodghill that the term “Pit” be dropped from the breed’s name.

  • Olde English Bulldogge Breed Standard
BREEDERS CUP ASSOCIATION - OLDE ENGLISH BULLDOGGE 2018 OLDE ENGLISH BULLDOGGE BREED STANDARD FOREWORD The original Bulldog originated in England between 1600 and 1700. These were the early ancestors to many of the Bull breeds that exist today including the English Bulldog and the American Bulldog. They were bred to participate in blood sports like bull ba iting. This so called sport, became quite popular in England throughout the middle of the 18th Century. Bull baiting primarily consisted of staking out a bull and allowing several Bulldogs to attack it. A dog of great courage and agility was needed for bull baiting. This dog was of medium size; larger dogs were considered to be the result of Mastiff crosses. Around 1835, laws were passed in England prohibiting bull baiting and the Bu lldog’s main purpose of existence vanished. Within a decade the number s of Bulldogs declined drastically almost to extinction. Dog show fanciers eventually decided to reconstruct the breed, but wanted to tone down the aggressive temperament of the orig inal Bulldog. They crossed the remnants of the existing stock with othe r breeds and over the years that followed they developed the modern English Bulldog. This breed however, was nothing like the original Bulldog; not athletic, unable to breed naturally, unable to handle the temperatures of the outdoors, etc. I n 1971 Dave L eavitt decided to reconstruct the original Bulldog of the 17th and 18th century and started the foundation of his Olde Englis h Bulldogge. He did not want the disposition of the original Bulldog’s viciousness, but Dave Leavitt was drawn to the Bulldog’s fie rce appearance.
