Berkswell Parish Council Response to the draft Solihull Housing plan consultation 1. Introduction and summary 1.1. Summary 1.1.1. The Council’s general view is that there are significant errors and omissions in the site selection methodology. An overview is given in answer to question 2 and particular comments for the Barratt’s Farm and Windmill Lane sites. These errors and omissions are such that the results are considered to be badly flawed. 1.1.2. The Council has been advised by residents of other significant errors within the SHELAA that materially impact the scoring results. The Council has not had the time and resources to study these but will have investigated by the time of the examination. 1.1.3. The Council supports the inclusion within this version of the plan of brownfield sites that were omitted from the first draft of the plan. 1.1.4. The Council considers that brownfield sites should be phased for development during the early phases of the plan to allow time for any development issues to be resolved within the 15-year plan period. If necessary greenfield sites can then be brought forward if the brownfield sites slip. 1.1.5. The Council is concerned that there is no reflection of the Berkswell Parish draft NDP within the draft plan. 1.1.6. The Council welcomes the infrastructure plan but makes significant suggestions for enhancement. Berkswell Parish Council apologises for the length of this submission but considers that the issues are important and worthy of deep consideration with an honest attempt by SMBC to conduct a suitable and sufficient review of the draft plan proposals. -

Solihull Riding Club Qualifiers: PLEASE NOTE: Classes are open to everyone; no registration of any kind is required to enter. It is the competitors’ responsibility to ensure they are eligible. Qualifications will be awarded as below. * TRAILBLAZERS (T): The 4 highest placed combinations will qualify from each Showing & Working Hunter Qualifier for the Trailblazers Championship Finals regardless of the number of entries in the Qualifier. Only qualified partnerships (horse / pony and rider) from a Trailblazers Qualifier are eligible to compete at the Trailblazers Championship Finals. Once qualifying partnerships have purchased their qualification card and sent it to the Trailblazers Show Secretary they are permitted to enter any Showing or Working Hunter Class for which they are eligible to compete in. We will be handing out Trailblazers First Round qualifications on the day, these will need to be returned to the office within 14 days with £12.00 payment and a SAE envelope. -

The BCE conduct a review of all the constituencies in England every five years. Their role is to make recommendations to Parliament for new constituency boundaries. The BCE is currently conducting a review of all Parliamentary constituency boundaries in England based on new rules laid down by Parliament. These rules involve a reduction in the number of constituencies in England (from 533 to 502) and stipulate that every constituency, apart from two specific exemptions, must have an electorate no smaller than 72,810 and no larger than 80,473. -

I have the honour to report for the information of the Minis~erof Transport, in accordance with the Order dated 20th Augusl, 1963, the result of my Inquiry into the collision that occurred at about 1.11 pm. on Thursday, 15th August. 1963, at Knowle and Dorridge Station on the part of the Main line between Birmingham (Snow Hill) and Paddington that lies in the London Midland Region. British Railways. The signalman at Bentley Heath Crossing signalbox had accepted the 1.0 p.m. Birnlingham (Snow Hill) to Paddington Pullman express train on the Up Main line and had received "Line Clear" for it from the signalman at Knowle and Dorridge, the next box in advance and less than mile distant. and he had then lowered all his signals, including the Distant. The signalman at Knowle and Dorridge did not, however, lower his signals and, forgetting that he had accepted the express. he allowed a shunting movement to pass onto the Up Main line and to proceed along it in the facing direction. He realised his mistake at the last minute and stopped the shunting movement almost opposite his box. but in that position it fouled the clearing point which is 440 yards beyond the Up Main Home signal. -

Blythe Valley Park, Solihull, West Midlands Location Blythe Valley Park is a business park in Solihull in the West Midlands. It is accessed from Junction 4 of the M42, on the A34 Stratford Road between Solihull and Hockley Heath. Post code B90 8AA. Figure 1: Aerial of Blyth Valley Park. (Courtesy of BVP Management Company) Description Blythe Valley Park contains one of the largest and oldest ?SuDS? scheme in England. Several systems of swal es, ponds and wetlands were installed as part of the infrastructure work to protect the River Blythe, a SSSI, from the effects of development on what was formally farmland. Construction started in 1999 and has been continuing since. There are two phases to the overall site ? phase 1 is a partially built-ou t office park, and phase 2 has been subject to some earthworks remodelling and the provision of SuDS for future use. The whole of both development phases now covers some 257 acres. The site is used by the Environment Agency as an exemplar. The attenuation systems are therefore very extensive. System 1 is located to the west of the business park and System 2 to the north. Both systems work as ?treatment trains? and are comprised of swales that feed thro ugh wet attenuation ponds, into constructed wetlands and ?polishing ponds?, eventually discharging into either the Hawkeshaw Brook (west) or the Illshaw Brook (north). -
