BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI PRABHUPĀDA, FOUNDER-ĀCĀRYA OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS BHAGAVAD-GITA 4.34 JUST TRY TO LEARN THE TRUTH BY APPROACHING A SPIRITUAL MASTER. INQUIRE FROM HIM SUBMISSIVELY AND RENDER SERVICE UNTO HIM. THE SELF-REALIZED SOUL CAN IMPART KNOWLEDGE UNTO YOU BECAUSE HE HAS SEEN THE TRUTH The path of spiritual realization is undoubtedly difficult. The Lord therefore advises us to approach a bona fide spiritual master in the line of disciplic succession from the Lord Himself. No one can be a bona fide spiritual master without following this principle of disciplic succession. The Lord is the original spiritual master, and a person in the disciplic succession can convey the message of the Lord as it is to his disciple. No one can be spiritually realized by manufacturing his own process, as is the fashion of the foolish pretenders. The Bhagavatam says: dharmam hi saksad-bhagavat-pranitam—the path of religion is directly enunciated by the Lord. Therefore, mental speculation or dry arguments cannot help one progress in spiritual life. One has to approach a bona fide spir- itual master to receive the knowledge. Such a spiritual master should be accepted in full surrender, and one should serve the spiritual master like a menial servant, without false prestige. Satisfaction of the self- realized spiritual master is the secret of advancement in spiritual life. Inquiries and submission constitute the proper combination for spiri- tual understanding. Unless there is submission and service, inquiries from the learned spiritual master will not be effective. One must be able to pass the test of the spiritual master, and when he sees the genuine desire of the disciple, he automatically blesses the disciple with genu- ine spiritual understanding. In this verse, both blind following and ab- surd inquiries are condemned. One should not only hear submissively from the spiritual master; but one must also get a clear understanding from him, in submission and service and inquiries. A bona fide spiritual master is by nature very kind toward the disciple. Therefore when the student is submissive and is always ready to render service, the recipro- cation of knowledge and inquiries becomes perfect. SIGNIFICANCE OF SRI VYASA-PUJA BY GAURAVANI DASI All glories to Srila Prabhupada All glories to HH Jayadvaita swami All glories to our beloved Kadamba Kanana Swami. I was asked to write meaning and importance of Vyasapuja offering i am apologizing i have never done this, new challenge but with mercy of our spiritual master. mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande paramānanda-mādhava 3 “ ‘The Supreme Personality of Godhead has the form of sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha — transcendental bliss, knowledge and eternity. I offer my respectful obeisances unto Him, who turns the dumb into eloquent speakers and enables the lame to cross mountains. Such is the mercy of the Lord.’ ” (CC Madhya 17.80) Expression reflects and reinforce emotion. The celebration of Vyasa-puja is an ex- pression of the gratitude that the disciple feels for the spiritual master. And that feeling becomes reinforced when a disciple expresses

It points to union of natural beings with super nature. Jayadeva Radha is not only radiant, fascinating or angelic, she represents celestial beauty and her union with Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, unfolds supreme love and eternal delight. One does not require surveying the history, delving deep into texts and characteristic features of Odissi system to understand its classy style if he at least reads and listens to Gitagovinda of Sri Jayadeva. As this sacred piece of lyrical poem contains all the salient and distinguishing features of classical music, the reader or listener must appreciate the uniqueness and wholesomeness of Odissi as the third system of classical music in the domain of Indian music. Sri Jayadeva has not only originated a specific music tradition, systematic form and definite melodic pattern, raga-tala repertoires but also built a socio-cultural community. The purity, sanctity and characteristic features of Odissi music have been enriched refined and pervaded its horizon through Gitagovinda of Sri Jayadeva.     An Alternate Analysis: Prabhupada’s May 28th Conversation and July 9th Letter (1977) Henry Doktorski, III Copyright © 2015 by Henry Doktorski, III Introduction What is the value of yet another examination of Srila Prabhupada’s May 28th conversation with members of the GBC and July 9th letter authorizing eleven men to initiate as ritvik priests? Hasn’t this already been analyzed to death? After nearly four decades, haven’t Prabhupada’s instructions been clearly understood and implemented? I’m not convinced that they have. This is important because if the instructions of the spiritual master are not correctly interpreted and followed then the entire sampradaya will veer off course and become asara, or useless. Prabhupada explained, “Persons who strictly follow the orders of the spiritual master are useful in executing the will of the Supreme, whereas persons who deviate from the strict order of the spiritual master are useless [asara].” 1 I first heard about this famous conversation and letter—in which Prabhupada allegedly appointed eleven advanced disciples to succeed him—in 1978 when I joined ISKCON and began serving Prabhupada’s mission as a disciple of one of the zonal acaryas. I learned more about this conversation and letter in 1983, when Satsvarupa dasa Goswami’s Srila Prabhupada- lilamrta, Volume 6: Uniting Two Worlds was published. At that time I accepted Satsvarupa’s conclusion that these two documents were a “clear and conclusive” appointment of eleven men to “become gurus and accept disciples of their own.” 2 Recently, however, I have had the good fortune to become acquainted with a devotee who lived in Vrindaban, India during the summer of 1977 when Srila Prabhupada was making arrangements for the future of ISKCON in preparation for his inevitable passage from this world.

Altogether these independent regions came under one administrative control which was known as Utkala and subsequently Orissa. The name of Utkala has been mentioned in Mahabharata, Ramayana and Puranas. The existence of Utkala as a kingdom is found in Kalidas's Raghuvamsa. It is stated that king Raghu after having crossed the river Kapisa reached the Utkala country and finally went to Kalinga. The earliest epigraphic evidence to Utakaladesa is found from the Midnapur plate of Somdatta which includes Dandabhukti within its jurisdiction1. The plates record that while Sasanka was ruling the earth, his feudatory Maharaja Somadatta was governing the province of Dandabhukti adjoining the Utkala-desa. The Kelga plate 8 indicate s that Udyotakesari's son and successors of Yayati ruled about the 3rd quarter of eleventh century, made over Kosala to prince named Abhimanyu and was himself ruling over Utkala After the down-fall of the Matharas in Kalinga, the Gangas held the reines of administration in or about 626-7 A, D. They ruled for a long period of about five hundred years, when, at last,they extended their power as far as the Gafiga by sujugating Utkala in or about 1112 A.

    How the British divided Punjab into Hindu and Sikh By Sanjeev Nayyar December 2016 This is chapter 2 from the E book on Khalistan Movement published by www.swarajyamag.com During a 2012 visit to Naina Devi Temple in Himachal Pradesh, about an hour's drive from Anandpur Sahib, I wondered why so many Sikhs come to the temple for darshan. The answer lies in the events of 1699. In the Chandi Charitra, the tenth Guru says that in the past god had deputed Goddess Durga to destroy evil doers. That duty was now assigned to him hence he wanted her blessings. So he invited Pandit Kesho from Kashi to conduct the ceremony at the hill of Naina Devi. The ceremony started on Durga Ashtami day, in the autumn of October 1698, and lasted for six months. At the end of this period, the sacred spring Navratras began on 21 March 1699. Then, “When all the ghee and incense had been burnt and the goddess had yet not appeared, the Guru came forward with a naked sword and, flashing it before the assembly declared: ‘This is the goddess of power!” This took place on 28 March 1699, the Durga Ashtami day. The congregation was then asked to move to Anandpur, where on New Year Day of 1st Baisakh, 1699, the Guru would create a new nation.” 3 On 30 March 1699, at Anandpur, Govind Singhji gave a stirring speech to the assembly about the need to protect their spiritual and temporal rights.
