SUPPORT WORKER

Reporting to: Home Manager & Senior on Duty Accountable to: Aitch Care Homes

KEY OBJECTIVES

To enable the residents to lead a valued and fulfilling lifestyle and to maximise the potential capacity of all residents, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. To work within the Philosophy of “Valuing People” METHOD

To work in accordance with Aitch Care Homes’ philosophy of care and its Policies and Procedures. MAIN TASKS

. To support the personalised development of each resident, recognising talent, sensitivities and beliefs.

. To respect the dignity and individuality of each resident and provide the residents with choices where appropriate.

. To assist in the day-to-day running of the home and in all matters regarding the residents’ daily lives.

. To support in ensuring high standards of care and support are maintained, adhering to all requirements and regulations within the Regulations Care Homes 2002

. To work as part of a staff team in a constructive and supportive manner, attend regular staff meetings and individual supervision sessions with the Home Manager.

. To work within a rostered shift system inclusive of evening and weekend work. To sleep-in when arranged at a predetermined payment.

. To ensure the safety of the residents at all times, reporting promptly any concerns about the health and safety or well-being of residents. RESIDENT SUPPORT & KEYWORKER RESPONSIBILITIES

. To support the personalised development of each resident, recognising talent, sensitivities and beliefs.

. To respect the dignity and individuality of each resident and provide the residents with choices where appropriate.

. To ensure a high standard of personal care for each resident, including matters of physical well-being and personal hygiene.

. To be aware of the emotional needs and aspirations of each resident and provide opportunities for appropriate emotional expression.

. To initiate and support individuals to be involved in educational, occupational, recreational activities when appropriate.

. To write and keep updated individual residents Care Plans and be actively involved in the Review process.

. To follow consistently all agreed Care Plans, Risk Assessments and individual resident guidelines, reporting any progress or problems with these.

. To report promptly any concerns about health, safety or wel-being of residents.

. To assist residents in maintaining good contact with family and friends.

. To assist residents in going on an annual holiday.

. To act as keyworker to individuals as agreed with the Home Manager. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

. To contribute to the overall cleaning of the home and involving the residents in these tasks as appropriate.

. To be vigilant to the health and safety of residents, visitors, colleagues and others.

. To accurately maintain all records as required by the Home Manager.

. To have a working knowledge of all Policies, Procedures and guidelines within Aitch Care Homes.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

. To undertake courses and pursue own professional development and training. The Company proactively encourages staff to improve their skills as appropriate.

. To attain the required professional standards to practise within the General Social Care Council Standards

. To undertake training as determined by Aitch Care Homes.
