She is out of one of our bell mares that we use on the mountain and our Scooter bred jack we call “Chancellor”. This young mare mule is easy going and will be lightly started by sale day. She is a real eye-catcher that will be a terrific saddle mule when her training is finished. She has that classy look and always has. She should be about done growing taller and when she finishes filling out with her muscling, she is going to be a real looker. This mule will find you to be caught. She has a great walk-trot and the sweetest lope. Not a mean bone in her. You can ride her with halter and lead rope. Good in the timber, crosses water, logs. • Dixie - They don’t come with any more shape and chrome than this gal! But her appeal goes far beyond what your eyes can see. Dixie is gentle, personable and easy for anyone to get along with. She enjoys attention and affection. Dixie is a fantastic trail mule. She is bold and independent and will gladly go out alone without issue. She will lead or follow in a group. Dixie is a wonderful size and can carry a large rider with ease or a small rider with great care. Not only is Dixie a gem to ride, she is a blast to drive! She drives both single and double- although we haven’t had any luck finding one pretty enough to pair with her. We have driven her to our sleigh, top buggy, as well as our feed wagon. • “Bear” stands 14.1 hands and stout. Bear is a sweet mule and will walk right up to you in the pasture. He is a trail riding machine and will go all day. He will take on a the most difficult terrain with ease. Bear crosses water, bridges, tarps, logs, etc. This mule is fancy broke with a soft mouth, solid neck rein and smooth gate transitions. He has been primarily used for the trails but would excel on the ranch, with cows or in other performance events. This young mule has tons of potential. He does well overnight camping. Rides at the front, middle or back of the pack. Youth suitable. Started on WSCA games like barrels, poles, keyhole. Bear will drag a tarp and log. Carries saddlebags full of goodies with ease and would carry a pack saddle no problem. Rides in both a britchin and crupper. He moves out nicely at the walk, with a smooth trot and FLOATING lope. He moves off legs and will pick up both leads in the arena. Easy stop. Introduced to mounted shooting. Easy to load, clip and vet. Good for the farrier. • Flash is a super nice and correct palomino John mule. He was born May 23rd of 2020. Flash should mature to around 15-15.1h. He is out of a big ol stout gray mare that stands 15h and is around 1100lbs. He is also out of Rawhide, which is a grandson of Texas Scooter. I’m not 100% sure what color this colt will end up being as he was born buckskin but now favors palomino. He also has gray showing up in his mane so him turning gray is a possibility as well. Regardless what color he turns out to be he will definitely get you noticed with his looks and he will have a great mind to go with it. You will not want to miss out on this amazing colt. She is a 10 yr. old gorgeous paint molly. That gorgeous color came from her pretty momma who was directly out of Color Me Smart. Color Me Smart is one of the top producers of cow horses in the APHA industry. ROSITA is a very stocky built and correctly proportioned mule. She rides even better than she looks. She rides soft in the bridle and light off your legs for a great riding experience. Everyone looks for an equine that rides like her. She rides around like a pleasure quarter horse. She has a calm walk, a super smooth jog and slow collected lope that feels like sitting in a rocking chair. She is calm and laid back but at the same time has plenty of fire when you need it from her. She can handle a long day of ranch work or a trail ride thru the mountains. She is easy to catch, bridle, saddle, bath, load, clip, shoe and haul. Whether you ride her twice a week or once every 3 months, she will be the same mule every time. • Morocco is the type of mule that was born broke. He is as sweet as they come and a beautiful color! Broke to ride pack/pony and started driving. He is the first one at the gate to be caught, loads by himself in the trailer, will stand tied all day and has impeccable ground manners and ground work. Well started in the show ring, both western and English. He will continue to be shown until sale day. He’s great in the arena but even better in the mountains, he will cross water, logs, and brush with confidence. Has been started on heel-o-matic and out of the box and has great cow sense. Is nice and subtle in the snaffle, moves off your leg and has a voice command stop. He has nice collected gaits and great head set. Perfect mule for someone that is looking for that all around partner. • Wyatt is the most awesome sorrel john mule. He’s big enough for the biggies and gentle enough for the littles. He is one of the BEST mules we have ever had the pleasure of offering. And for being only 7 years old we are beyond impressed with Wyatt. Literally everyone we have put on him loves him! He is 16 hands of “come and find you and hang out with you.” He wants to be your best friend. He is kind to dogs and kids but will ride around for the more advanced rider as well. He will travel down the trail perfectly and with ease. Because he was the first one to the gate in the middle of the night when I got the call that my steers were out, I climbed on him bareback and we got to lope through the deep snow, in the dark to gather them and bring them back in. You can even rope one off him if you want to. I believe there is not a more loving, gentle mule around. You can catch him anywhere, if he doesn’t catch you first. Pack anything on him with no worries or concerns. He lopes with a low head and is as smooth of a ride as you will find. He’s good to shoe, clip and bathe. Loads and hauls quiet. I have hauled her to Arizona and trail ridden her exploring the desert country, She is very sure footed and will cross the bogs, logs, rivers and mountain passes with ease, She is good about her ears and likes people but is not a in your face pushy kind of mule. She gets along great with all the other mules and horses and is good around dogs. I personally really like this mule and she has been a lot fun, She has a real good one handed neck rein, is soft in the face and mouth, will side pass with ease. picks up her leads, lopes nice collected circles and is a very smooth riding mule. • This is a nice all-around mule with a great mind and good looks. LG (Little Girl) has always had a willing attitude and is fun to be around. She spent a year and a half with Paul Garrison in Medina Texas. She’s mature enough to lead a pack-string or be in the string, cute enough for the show ring and confident enough to ride alone or in a group. LG is broke to britchens, cruppers, ropes, traffic, bikers, hikers, wildlife, cattle, kids and more. She has an amazing amount of endurance. She seems to love carrying riders up mountains and will get you to the top faster than mules that are 2 hands taller than her. She does everything a good mule should and more. When she arrived to the Rocky Mountains last winter from Texas, she hadn’t been rode for several months, it was 15 degrees and 6” of snow on the ground. We saddled her up and were trotting circles in the round pen 5 minutes later with no hump in her back. I have no problem trusting her around my kids or trail riding off alone to the middle of nowhere with no phone reception. As a mule trainer, I have the pleasure of spending many hours with many different mules. There have been a few that I “have” to train/ride, however, LG has always been one that I “get” to train/ride and I look forward to spending time with her. • I watched Buckshot being born at my house on April 20, 2015. His momma was my mare, Sunkist, a calm mare with a good disposition, bred to a nice calm riding jack “Nate” owned by Sherry Pledger, Wyandotte, Oklahoma. Buckshot was imprinted and has been handled since birth. We have worked with him in hand and with a saddle on until he was 4 years old. We started riding in saddle at 4. He’s been trail riding in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, including 9 days at the National Championship Chuckwagon Races where we carried the American flag at the opening celebration. He will meet you at the gate, or anywhere in the pasture, whether you have a halter in your hand or not. Very calm and always ready to go. Buckshot stands well, is good with feet, been shod, good with clippers and enjoys being groomed. He is well built with a nice hip. Good with other equine, cows, dogs, cats, chickens, geese, bikes, ATV’s and heavy equipment. He is ponying mules that are being trained as well as checking and moving cows. • SPORT is a good looking Sorrel mule with some cool chrome. He is a QH cross mule. He has tons of heart and is very tough. He can work all day long on the ranch helping you find, gather, pen, sort, rope and doctor your cattle. He can take you on a long, wonderful, breathtaking trail ride, short spin around the ranch or ride to the local coffee shop. He’ll be there when you get back and that’s the best part of all. We had the privilege to start this nice mule as a 3 yr old for a good friend. We rode him several more times on several occasions for the previous owner. We put lots of hours on him riding at the sale barn and lots of miles on the trails. The previous owner and his family did a great job thru the latter years of owning him. He has been used for many mule team ropings and several horse team ropings. He is a seasoned at Team Roping on both ends. Alot of people of different ages have roped on him thru these years. They also rode him at the National Championship Chuckwagon Races in Clinton, AR every year since he was 4. He was seasoned there to loud music, crazy people hoopin’ & hollerin’, all types of wagons large & small clanging and banging along, flashing disco lights, rode day & night, waded thru deep rivers, climbing thru rocks, going off steep ravines, rode to Downtown Clinton for a fish fry, gathered wild horses, rode around barking dogs and little kids running around. While there he was tied on a tie line, kept behind paneled corrals, white hot wire tape, & even spent some of the time just tied to the trailer. All these things thrown at an equine at one time help season them and desensitize them in a special and unique way. We had told the previous owner if he ever sold him, to please give us first shot and he did. We are very happy to have him with us and to represent him at the best saddle mule sale in the nation. We never try to say any equine is bombproof but he’s real close. A rider can brush, clip, pick his hooves, halter, bridle, saddle, mount and ride off this mule with confidence. They can also load him, haul him and ride him in different places. We have been using him on the ranch, for our cowboy camps, riding lessons, parades, hunting, packing and all types of trailrides. • Molly is a pretty dun mule with baring all over her legs, stripe down her back and across the withers. She stands a little over 15.1 hands tall. She has been with my family since she was three years old. She’s now nine. Molly’s been used in the local livestock barn penning, sorting, gathering pens and loading trucks. I have used her to day work, gather big hilly pastures, rope, doctor, and catch some not so willing mother cows. She pulls good from the horn. She’s even done well for me in a few ranch rodeos. She will run hard after unruly bovine. Crosses ditchs and rides through brush (even when the tree limbs are so low they pull the bridle off). This past winter it had froze just enough that the creeks had a layer of ice just barely covered with snow. She broke through the ice when crossing, she crossed for me everytime. She enjoys going for a easy ride down the gravel road or out in the pasture. We took her to a parade summer of 2019, my best friend was eating potato chips. Meacham is out of an own Granddaughter of Colonel Freckles with a double bred Sugar Bars lineage and our late jack “Big Jake”, whom I bought from Tim Cross. Meacham stands 15.2 hands presently and will be a nice quarter type mule that will be good for any discipline you may want. This mule should excel on the trails or in the arena. He should be getting his growing up done and in the next year or two should be doing some more filling out and getting an even nicer hip and bigger front end on him. Is a summer fishing trip or a trail ride in order? Downed trees, wilderness, wild animals, and creeks are not a problem for Foxy as she’ll happily wait while using a chainsaw to clear trail. If your style is ranching - sorting, branding, doctoring, moving and gathering cows, opening gates - she’s your girl. Foxy is easy to catch and gets along well with other stock. She’s been ridden with a crupper or britching, and can be ridden by a novice. A seasoned rider would also easily complete a day’s work with her. Loading and hauling are no problem for Foxy. Rose is always happy to see you, and always meets you at the gate, if you didn’t come to catch her she will follow you wherever you go anyway. An absolute head turner with her beautiful color, flaxen tail and kind eye she will melt your heart when you meet her. She loves one on one time , stands great to bathe, groom, clip and just be loved on. Rose is as safe, gentle and willing as you could ever wish for. She has a great foundation of training. She rides and guides flawlessly with a draped rein. She is a smooth riding beautiful moving at both the trot and canter and goes where you point her. Trained at a high level, she is responsive to both leg and hand cues, neckreins, stops, backs, and side passes easily. Happily jumps right in the trailer and hauls great. An outstanding experienced trail mule she knows how to go up and down the steepest, roughest areas you can find. She’s great going over downed trees,bridges, through water, riding with dogs and has been around lots of wildlife. She’s rides around all kinds of farm equipment, 4 wheelers, traffic and doesn’t bat an eye. Rose has been great with tarps, bull whips, balloons, flags, tarps gunfire and is patient and willing when being exposed to any new experience. Lex has been trail rode all over out west. She’s even been on elk hunts. Lex is calm and gentle and she gets better every time you ride her. She will cross tarps, logs, water etc. you name it this mule will go over it if asked. She stands for the farrier and to be tacked up. She loads great in the trailer as well. We bought her at Jake’s sale in 2017 and his prediction that she would be headed to Bishop was correct. We showed her at Bishop in 2018 where she won her halter class which had about 30 head in it and placed 4th in a giant class of 30 green western pleasure mules. We went back in 2019 when she again placed in her green western pleasure class and again won her halter class, this time beating 41 head of mules. Anyone can ride Lexie but if you are a skilled rider you will really appreciate this talented molly. She is a Cadillac and a true one hand bridle mule. She has a perfect slow legged western pleasure lope and jog and will also go English. Lexie can do flying lead changes and has an excellent stop and a good spin. She will make a great cowboy or western dressage mule and would be an excellent show mule for an amateur. A novice and even a child could get along with this mule, but her talents aren’t limited to the show ring. Lexie is also an excellent trail mule, a pretty handy cow mule and we have even used her for hunting. You can swing a rope on her and she will carry a flag. On the trail she is quiet and steady. She has ponied colts and will cross water, downed trees and other trail obstacles without a fuss. She is easy to clip and bathe and loads up and hauls quietly. Her mother is a registered buckskin and her daddy is Choice a son of Texas Scooter. Coco has been used here at home for trail riding to ponying colts. She has checked cows and calves in the pasture. She has been rode by all ages from 8-65. Our good friends Billy and Julie took her for a week camping in Wyoming on vacation. Their grandkids have rode her miles and miles. When we showed up at 10 am on the 28th she was walking up and down the mountain next to her beautiful dappled palomino mom, named Chantilly. DOC O’LENA, PEPPY SAN BADGER, GALLO DEL CIELO ( who earned million dollar sire status) are all on her mom’s papers. Chantilly is good to catch, stays broke with time off, has drug calves to the fire, been used in pack strings, started on the heel-o-matic, has a big hip, good withers, cute head, has a good mind and is nice to be around. Her dad ‘Tom’ is a black Catalonian jack who stands 14.1 hands. We expect Frida will mature at about 15 hands. Frida picks up all four feet, has been introduced to deer hides, elk hides, cattle, kids, bicycles, ropes, wildlife, tarps, traffic and more. She is broke to lead and safe around kids. • Rosa is a 9 year old, 14.2 hand dark dun Molly mule weighing in around 1050. She is one of those that loves attention and loves her butt scratched. We’ve used her all over the mountains, doing everything and packing everything. I have ridden her a lot myself but I have also put hunters on that barely know how to hang on and she brought them along smoothly and safely. She’s a great size for getting on and off without finding a log or stump. She is very good going through the mountains, down the trails, crossing creeks, logs. She’s good with dogs. He holds a saddle great and does not need a britchen or crupper but will take them with no issues. She’s a really nice “QH” built mule. She shoes and clips, loads and hauls. • SIERRA is a very sturdy & athletic mule. She has tons of stamina and go. She is smooth as can be and has a real nice lope. We have done obstacles and all types of other show type events on her and some gymkhana events. She has been used for regular ranch tasks and tons of trailriding. She is very sure- footed doing both. She has been rode in rocky, boggy and heavy brush areas. She has been used for hog hunting and packed. She trucks right on thru with no hesitation. We believe she had some unkind treatment way back in her past. She does have a skeptical personality at first until she gets to know you. We want to be honest about that. But she is easily won over with good ole’ kind treatment. She is definitely a one owner type mule. She has been rode by herself and with others and she has no problem riding off by herself. We even trust him enough to carry a puppy into hunting camp! Montana born and raised, he has done every job on the ranch and excels at everything he does. Roping and dragging calves at branding is his favorite! Along with all the attention! He is a great babysitter whether it be children, dogs, or someone inexperienced. We have no problem putting friends and family on him when they come to help. He has also been used to wrangle the outfitter string in hunting camp and stays calm and collect following the herd in. Whatever the task may be Chavez is up for it. His willingness to please is endless. He rides off by himself, and crosses any type of terrain, rocks, trees, and water with ease, always picking his route carefully and mindfully. He’s as sure footed as they come. There is nothing that scares him, not even grizzly bears! The ultimate trail mule! He is the kind that comes to meet you, whether it’s in the corral or the middle of the wilderness. Besides being easy to catch, he is also great to shoe, load, bathe, and clip. He does fine with time off and will saddle up and ride off quiet every time. Ride him with or without a crupper, or breeching, he holds a saddle very well. Rides bareback too! Neck reins and travels at any speed you ask, not pushy but not lazy either. Chavez is put together right, stout enough to carry a heavy load, with good bone and feet. He gets along great with other horses and mules. We have owned Chavez since 2013, and love him as much or more than any critter we own, horse or mule. It’s hard to see him go but we sincerely hope Chavez finds a good home where he can be enjoyed. I can’t say enough good things about this mule, he has the biggest personality and his ability and experience speaks for itself. No buck or bad habits.
